Twitter Rated Most Effective for Content Marketing | AllTwitter

Twitter Rated Most Effective for Content Marketing | AllTwitter | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

A new study of marketers in the United Kingdom has rated Twitter as the most effective social media platform for content marketing.

In the third annual Trends report, Axonn Media found that 89 percent of UK marketers used Twitter to distribute content and 75 percent said that they found it to be the most effective channel. This placed Twitter first ahead of LinkedIn which, while in use by 96 percent of marketers, was only cited as effective by 61 percent.

Facebook was given the thumbs up by just 29 percent of respondents.

Overall, social media finished third behind in-person events and blogs for effectiveness....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

This study surprised me and I would really like to see a clearer, more comprehensive look at results rather than an informal "Which one works better?" question.

If you've been working in marketing at all over the past year, you've probably witnessed an argument about the effectiveness of content marketing.

Most Useful Forms Of Content For Making B2B Online Purchases - CHART | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

General consumers aren’t the only ones who value a good customer experience when shopping online. Business-to-business (B2B) end-user buyers—nonprocurement business professionals who purchase products and services for work-related activities—have arrived. And as a result of their personal digital shopping habits, they want a consumerlike experience when researching and making business purchases online as well, according to an August 2014 study by Forrester Consulting for Intershop.+

B2B end-user buyers worldwide were most likely to begin researching work-related purchases on search engines (35%) and manufacturers’ websites (27%), and 18% got started on consumer sites. What content are they looking for once they get there? The research found that those polled worldwide expected a mix of “traditional” digital and rich media content. Technical brochures and specification sheets (61%) and instruction manuals and how-to documents (46%) were the most helpful forms of content, followed by video. ...

4 Tools to Enhance the Images in Your Content Marketing

4 Tools to Enhance the Images in Your Content Marketing | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
There’s quite a few reasons to integrate high-quality visual content in your blogs and social media posts. Not only is visual content processed much faster than the written word, but it’s much more memorable.

People retain only 20% of what they read and 10% of what they hear, but 80% of what they see.

Recent studies by the Content Marketing Institute reports that infographics and videos are still considered highly effective marketing tactics. As marketers increasingly embrace visual content, it’s become more than just a best practice to visually-stimulate your audience. It’s required to keep up, let alone stand out against your competition.

Make it your mission to ditch stock photos in the months to come, and choose to embrace custom images, collages, and high-quality creative commons-licensed pictures instead. Your blog marketing metrics will surely reflect your efforts:...

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Creating custom visuals makes for better marketing impact and ultimately, better results. I use each of these tools frequently, and they are easy to use and efficient.

The unanswered question here is 'did it increase sales?'  I think it's a common mistake by small business to put time and effort into getting more views, shares, likes, comments etc. but not knowing or, even worse, knowing that the social media site is missing your target audience.  ID the target audience first, then choose social channels only if your target is present.

Five Types of Social Media Influencers

In fact, in the age of social media, the definition is changing as how to identify influencers. Today, thanks to online applications, all social media users now have the opportunity to stand out and in turn become leaders in respect to their interests.   As a result, marketers and public relation professionals are forced to reassess their approach to define the notion influence on social networks.

Influencers on social media are either passionate individuals who turn out to be specialists or professionals involved who use Web 2.0 tools as part of their work. How big data is changing e-commerce for good

How big data is changing e-commerce for good | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

You’re going to have to get used to it: data is everywhere, we contribute to it constantly, and it has a huge impact on the retail industry. In fact, 80-90 percent  of all the data in the world was created in just the last two years. Big data is generally portrayed as having all the solutions to many of the biggest issues in retail (as long as it is mined and utilized correctly), but it still has a lot of quirks to work out.

A big chunk of the problem with big data comes down to how it’s defined. There are dozens of different takes on it, but let’s discuss it as the rapid increase of the creation of diverse and quickly transforming data through multiple channels that must be processed in innovative and strategic ways.
