5 Free Photo Editing Websites Every Blogger Should Use

5 Free Photo Editing Websites Every Blogger Should Use | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

There’s no denying how much easier it is to read lengthy articles when there are pictures and photographs interspersed throughout the text. Text alone can get overwhelming and boring, so having a pop of color or an interesting graphic to look at gives our brain a nice little break before we continue on throughout the article. However not all pictures come out exactly as we want them to, which makes photo editing an important part of the blogging process. And unless you’re a photo snob, you probably aren’t itching to spend a lot on photo-editing supplies. Luckily the Internet is stocked with free photo-editing websites, and some make photo-editing not only easy but also fun.

These five come out on top in terms of good, free photo-editing websites...

Part 1: Who’s Winning on Amazon? Profitero Ranks the Best-Selling Brands in 2016

Part 1: Who’s Winning on Amazon? Profitero Ranks the Best-Selling Brands in 2016 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
The rate of eCommerce growth as steadily outpaced total retail growth by a multiple of three to four times, Amazon.com’s growth has outpaced eCommerce by one to two times, giving it a dominant lead in many of the world’s most mature eCommerce markets. According to Forrester, Amazon drove 60% of total US online sales growth in 2015, capturing $23 billion more in U.S. eCommerce sales in 2015 than the previous year (up from $77 billion in 2014 to $100 billion). Alex McCord of Compass Marketing, an agency which works with some of the world’s largest CPG brands: “We’re now seeing the advent of what I’ll call e-commerce native companies: companies that come onto Amazon and other e-retailers and who are able to gain traction through getting a ton of recent reviews. They know how to work the Amazon algorithm and then launch products that, from the perspective of a brand in the brick-and-mortar world, have as low as zero market share. But in the world of unbranded search on Amazon and other retailers, they’re enormous players.”So who is winning on Amazon?Profitero analyzed our Amazon FastMovers reports between January-May 2016 to rank the best-selling products at Amazon in several key categories. We then identified the number of products that featured in the top 100 best sellers by brand to determine best-selling brands by category....

Fascinating e-commerce research and insight. Product marketers take note.

28 of the Best Instagrams to Follow for Design Inspiration | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

If you follow the right people, that's what Instagram can do for you. There are a lot of really talented artists and designers out there who use Instagram as a sort of mini art gallery -- a social portfolio, if you will.

And it's a jackpot for people who love browsing gorgeous design work.

To help you narrow your search, I've carefully curated some of the best Instagrams to follow for design inspiration. I did my best to place them in categories -- illustration, graphic design, pop art and installation, color palettes, street art, photography, typography, and calligraphy -- although you'll notice some of their work could fall into a number of different lists.

Whether you're a designer looking for inspiration, or you simply harbor an appreciation for art and design, you'll want to check out (and follow) these accounts. ...

Make Your Speech Unforgettable Through Storytelling

Make Your Speech Unforgettable Through Storytelling | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

You’re doing a presentation, so you should start with the facts you want to get across right? Wrong! A good public speaker takes their audience on a journey, leaving them feeling inspired, motivated and completely on board with your message.

But structuring your speech to get your ideas across and keep your audience engaged all the way through to the end can be tricky.  Experienced public speakers tell stories to get their point across.  They do this because humans are hardwired for stories. They love heroes, journeys, suspense, surprises, layers and happy endings.

Why Is Storytelling Important?

Before we talk about the basic building blocks of a story, let’s take a step back and briefly talk about why storytelling is so powerful.

Humans have an instinctive predilection for stories. Think about it, Gurg the caveman hunts the big wooly mammoth and he returns to tell his story by painting pictures on the cave walls.

Today, Claire, comes back from a big night out at the bars and shares her story by posting gossip and photos on her Facebook wall.

We all tell stories. We tell stories of romantic love. We tell stories about the challenges we face. We tell stories that explain how we got that distinctive scar on our knee.

If you’re trying to inform, persuade, motivate, or entertain, you need to incorporate stories. That means every time you speak, you should think about how to enhance your message with stories....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Storytelling makes for way better presentations.

The Essential Cheat Sheet of Cover Photo Dimensions for Facebook, Twitter & More [Templates]

The Essential Cheat Sheet of Cover Photo Dimensions for Facebook, Twitter & More [Templates] | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

And considering social media cover photos are likely something you'll want to update regularly to align with new campaigns, cover photo design can be an ongoing process -- not to mention how frequently social networks redesign their layouts, inevitably affecting cover photo sizes by cropping, warping, and mucking up your existing design.

This is definitely not ideal for brands looking to put their best foot forward in social media. So what's a poor marketer to do when the only scalable option is to take graphic design into their own hands?

To make things easier on social media managers and non-designers doing design, we created an essential cheat sheet containing the most up-to-date social media cover photo dimensions -- something you can bookmark and reference when you're ready to create or re-create a cover photo for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Google+.

We also created free, downloadable PowerPoint templates that are already pre-sized for each channel's specific cover photo dimensions so you can easily customize them for your own business. Just add your creative, save it as an image file, and upload it to your social media business page....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Really useful graphic dimensions cheat sheets for your blog and social marketing.

What I Learned By Writing 500 LinkedIn Articles

What I Learned By Writing 500 LinkedIn Articles | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

I joined LinkedIn in the very early days, but then went years without getting a single piece of business from the social network. Fortunately, this changed when I started publishing articles, and now I have written over 500 posts.

Almost overnight, LinkedIn became an important source of new clients. Selling morphed from an annoying necessity to an easy and enjoyable process: I just answer my email.

Using social media to attract new clients can be a highly efficient and effective strategy, but only if your mindset is to help people first, and to sell a distant second.

This notion – win customers by selling less – is counter-intuitive. Let me explain….

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Fix Your Social Media Strategy by Taking It Back to Basics

Fix Your Social Media Strategy by Taking It Back to Basics | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

A recent CMO Survey indicates that marketers plan to double their spending on social media in the next five years. Yet IBM’s C-Suite Study reports that nearly half of CMOs believe they are not prepared to manage the challenges of social media. This disparity highlights an important, and potentially costly, problem: Marketers continue to increase social media spending, yet many are still uncertain about management, strategies, and integration.

A quick Google search returns 140 million results for “social media marketing tips,” but no matter how many headlines promise it, there really is no one-size-fits-all social media strategy. Some articles indicate that stories are an effectivemarketing and advertising tool. But what story will you tell? How will you integrate it with your traditional efforts?

Other articles advise using social media networks, such as Pinterest. But what will your brand post? Is your target audience even on Pinterest? Still more articles offer a glimpse into other brands’ social media strategies. But what worked for Comcast or Best Buy or Universal Studios probably will not work for a bank, tech startup, or retail company.

What marketers need is a process that leads to individual solutions. They must use fundamental marketing concepts and modify them for this new two-way, consumer-empowered medium of social media. Here’s a framework for doing that, adapted from my book Social Media Strategy....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

According to Harvard Business Review, here’s where to start in taking your social media back to basics.

Facebook Live Grew Up Quickly. Here's How Broadcasters Are Jumping In - MediaShift

Facebook Live Grew Up Quickly. Here's How Broadcasters Are Jumping In - MediaShift | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Facebook Live, the social network’s live broadcast platform, exploded into the consciousness of news organizations – literally – back in April. BuzzFeed’s watermelon/rubber band virality experiment, silly as it was, provided newsrooms a glimpse of the power this tool can hold, even in its infancy.

It hasn’t taken long, however, for Facebook Live to grow up.In the past month, Facebook Live has broadcasted to the world everything from a Congressional sit-in for gun control to the immediate aftermath of a police officer shooting an African-American man during a traffic stop in Minnesota.

Broadcast newsrooms, in particular, seem primed to shine on a platform like Facebook Live. They’re already used to going live multiple times a day and employ talent who are already comfortable on air. The key, though, will be a willingness to tell stories in different ways than they’re told on TV or radio....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Newsrooms are testing new styles of reporting news using Facebook Live.

The Best Times to Use Long Form Landing Pages

The Best Times to Use Long Form Landing Pages | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
When you create landing pages, sometimes you’re forced to make some tough calls — deciding on the type of headline, all the way down to the colors on the page, and CTA button copy.

Every single decision has a significant impact on your conversion rate. Of course, this puts added pressure on you to get all the elements perfect before you publish the page.

The data you collect with A/B testing puts a lot of the CRO questions to bed, but the thing with testing is that it’s not an immediate solution. You can’t rely on A/B testing data as soon as you publish your page.

This is where CRO best practices come into play.
We’re going to make a case for both types of pages and argue why one should take precedence over the other. Then, we’ll give you a list of factors that will help you decide the length of your pages once and for all.

Let the debate begin....
