5 Free Photo Editing Websites Every Blogger Should Use

5 Free Photo Editing Websites Every Blogger Should Use | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

There’s no denying how much easier it is to read lengthy articles when there are pictures and photographs interspersed throughout the text. Text alone can get overwhelming and boring, so having a pop of color or an interesting graphic to look at gives our brain a nice little break before we continue on throughout the article. However not all pictures come out exactly as we want them to, which makes photo editing an important part of the blogging process. And unless you’re a photo snob, you probably aren’t itching to spend a lot on photo-editing supplies. Luckily the Internet is stocked with free photo-editing websites, and some make photo-editing not only easy but also fun.

These five come out on top in terms of good, free photo-editing websites...

10 Predictions For Web Design Trends in 2015 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it
We have compiled a list of 10 predictions that in our opinion will turn out to be correct to a varying degree. We have excluded flat style and responsiveness because of their obviousness. The first one has got an enormous stimulus from material design, and the second one, well, it is hard to name a trend actually, nowadays it is a must-have requirement. Also, we do not include ghost buttons since they are literally everywhere. So let's get acquainted with our prognoses...

How I launched the #2 most upvoted product of all time on Product Hunt

How I launched the #2 most upvoted product of all time on Product Hunt | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

The last 48 hours of my life were total madness. This is what I did.

Since I’m involved with startups on a daily basis, working on product development and (business) strategy, I’ve always been keeping lists of interesting tools and resources that could be interesting to use. Thinking of something I could create, I thought it would be fun to build a simple and useful site that could help makers find resources and tools while building their startup.

The first thing I did was writing down all categories I could think of that would suit a startup’s needs. I ended up with 50, and made a huge Excel sheet where I entered all the stuff I’d already saved. From there on I started collecting more resources and filling up the empty spaces....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

This is a superb story about marketing a start up, lessons and a blueprint to follow for success. Highly recommended for startups, PR and marketing pros. 10/10

5 Pointless Marketing Metrics You Can Stop Tracking Today

5 Pointless Marketing Metrics You Can Stop Tracking Today | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

But in many areas of marketing, more doesn't always mean better. Take your marketing data, for example. Though having data about your marketing programs is crucial to analyzing your success and making changes to future programs, some individual metrics aren't actually that helpful. And with only so much time in your day, you can't afford to spend your time analyzing data that won't help you make better marketing decisions.

If you want to get a full run-down on the metrics you should (and shouldn't be tracking, tune into our webinar on March 11 called Smart Reporting: How to Stop Wasting Time and Make Better Marketing Decisions. To register for that webinar, click here.

55 Hand-Picked Resources to Help You Learn Graphic Design Quickly | Design for Founders

55 Hand-Picked Resources to Help You Learn Graphic Design Quickly | Design for Founders | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

I’d go even a step further and say that the fastest and most effective way of learning is to copy what other people have done. It’s the ultimate “standing on the shoulders of giants” — instead of spending years developing a skill, you can gain it by simply following in the footsteps of professional designers. This is why step-by-step tutorials work so well for learning design.

The problem is that as a beginner, you don’t yet know what good design looks like. That’s why I included the top inspiration sites where you can learn to “see” what good design looks like.

Weli, I hope this resource comes in handy. If you need a printable, offline .pdf version of this list to tick off all read materials, download it free here:...

What is Influencer Marketing, and How Can You Use It?

What is Influencer Marketing, and How Can You Use It? | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Consumers value opinions that are expressed directly to them by people over advertising messages delivered by companies. According to a study by McKinsey, this value is so strong that word of mouth is the primary factor behind 20 to 50 percent of all purchasing decisions.

This is true across all industries, but the influence of other consumers is greatest when:

- consumers are buying a product for the first time,

- and when they are considering an expensive product.

The same study also showed that consumer-to-consumer word of mouth generates more than twice the sales of paid advertising, even when it is marketing-induced....

Content Beyond Text: The Multimedia Features Journalists Seek in an Online Newsroom

Content Beyond Text: The Multimedia Features Journalists Seek in an Online Newsroom | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

In our last post, we looked at three content features— PR contacts, press releases and breaking news—that journalists ranked high in importance in the 2015 Online Newsroom Survey Report. But in today’s digital world, “content” is defined more broadly than “text,” so in this post we’ll explore the multimedia elements of an online newsroom—things like photos, videos and audio files—and their relative importance among the journalists we surveyed. We’ll also take a look at online newsrooms that do multimedia well.

A photo is worth a thousand words
Given the budget cuts at media outlets over the past several years, it’s not surprising that 96% of journalists said photos are important, making them the #5 feature to have in your newsroom. High-quality photos can make the difference in getting a story published about your company or organization, so providing an easy-to-access, well-organized photo gallery on your news site is crucial....

The Future of Consumer Tech Is About Making You Forget It's There

The Future of Consumer Tech Is About Making You Forget It's There | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

With the iPad, the notion of technology getting out of the way meant designing a computer so easy to use that the apps took center stage. But the result was in some sense counterproductive; we've become so sucked into our phones and tablets that technology is actually getting in the way of the real world.

It's not going to be like that forever. In talking to leaders from some of the most innovative companies in consumer electronics, it's clear that the next five years will represent an attempt to bring us back to reality. This may seem paradoxical, but a proliferation of wearable devices, smart-home gizmos, smart cameras, and augmented-reality systems will exist largely to save us from our screens....

Not only will it be a smarter world, it will be a simpler one with wearable technology.

Nearly every marketer can benefit from data that helps pinpoint key moments in a customer’s journey. This data can come in the form of search keywords, purchase intent, and site interactions, but it can also come from very different devices.

Marin Software projected last year that mobile devices would account for over 50% of paid search clicks by 2015. Additionally,eMarketer recently reported that nearly 200 million users are expected to search on mobile by 2018.With consumers increasingly using a plethora of devices for research and purchasing decisions, it’s important that marketers analyze data across multiple online environments to understand signals of intent.
