The Industries That Are Being Disrupted the Most by Digital

The Industries That Are Being Disrupted the Most by Digital | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

We’re at a critical time for the digital economy. Digital is no longer the shiny front end of the organization – it’s integrated into every aspect of today’s companies. As digital technologies continue to transform the economy, many leaders are struggling to set a digital strategy, shift organizational structures, and remove the barriers that are keeping them from maximizing the potential impact of new digital technologies.

Every year, Russell Reynolds Associates surveys more than 2,000 C-level executives on the impact, structure, barriers, and enablers of digital technologies across 15 industries. The barometer below shows the percentage of executives surveyed who responded that their business would be moderately or massively disrupted by digital in the next 12 months, broken down by industry....

Outlook: Media and consumer tech in 2015 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Media business sectors went through the digital wringer in 2014: the reinventions of music, newspapers, and book publishing are not finished, though such change is certainly underway. 15 Brand Trends for 2015

15 Brand Trends for 2015 | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

Last year, I shared Brand Keys' Robert Passikoff's 14 Brand Trends for 2014. This year, Robert again put together his proposed trends for the upcoming year. He again shared his thoughts on the numerology, as well, this time, obviously focusing on 15: In numerology 15 is the combination of the number 1 (representing leadership and forward movement) and the number 5 (numeric for business and finance), thus 15 becomes the fusion of leadership and forward momentum for brands and marketers. Let's see what Robert predicts for the new year.

Four Near Certainties In Media & Marketing In 2019 | Online Spin

Four Near Certainties In Media & Marketing In 2019 | Online Spin | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

While most of what will happen in the future may be a surprise, I believe that there are a lot of things that will happen in the media and marketing industry in the near future that aren’t that hard to predict -- certain things so likely to occur, they are almost inevitable. In fact, you could view them as near certainties.

Why try to predict the future when you’re almost certain to be wrong on many points? If you are trying to prepare for -- or exploit -- how key trends will evolve, you need to have a point of view on the future, so I never mind sticking my neck out on predictions. In that vein, I will offer up four near certainties to occur over the next five years in our industry. Here they are....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

Four trends that will definitely be there in 2019.

What Is Snapchat?

What Is Snapchat? | Public Relations & Social Media Insight | Scoop.it

A primer on the photosharing service that Facebook reportedly offered to buy for $3 billion.

.... How does Snapchat actually work?

Once you've found your friends on Snapchat, you can simply start taking pictures and sending them out to as many friends as you want. The app has a couple of distinguishing features in terms of photo taking. One, users can draw on their photos. So that's funny sometimes. Two, you can caption any photo. Three, you get to set how long — from 1-10 seconds — the photograph will be visible to receivers. Crucially, too, the app tells you when your snaps are opened by the receiver. You know they saw it....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

In-depth look at app success story Snapchat.
