How Brands Tap Into Emotional Marketing to Win Business

How Brands Tap Into Emotional Marketing to Win Business | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Princeton psychologists learned that first impressions form in less than a second. Sounds crazy but it’s not.

Even though we consider ourselves logical and modern human beings, the majority of our decisions are made by the ancient, instinctive subconscious part of our brains, sometimes referred to as our “reptilian brain.” That doesn’t mean that the quality of our decisions is lowered; some, like Malcolm Gladwell in Blink, argue that quick, gut-level decisions are actually better and save us time and agony.

Let’s explore how emotions play into modern-day marketing and why....

Jeff Domansky's insight:

The most successful brands instill emotional marketing into their messaging, story, and advertising. Learn how to implement emotion in your campaigns here.

That psychology and marketing go hand in hand cannot be denied! What is it that makes you go to a restaurant that is ifull even if it means having to wait for some time? Why do you opt for a more expensive branded mobile phone than a cheaper mobile phone that has more features but is a new entry into the market?  Psychologists will talk about conditioning, triggers, cues, but I would term them as Propaganda Techniques, and emotional blackmail. Fact of the matter is that psychological research on. brand endorsements, herd mentality, conformism jumping  on to the bandwagon and fomo will determine how well the product will sell!

Visitor conversion in traditional and online retail

Visitor conversion in traditional and online retail | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

... Q. What senses are heightened online because some senses can’t be used online?

Very good question, indeed. I think, obviously, the visual senses are high. We have found this particularly with young people, the digital natives, young people who have grown up not knowing a non-digital world. They may not be as literate in the traditional sense as people of my generation, but they are visually very literate, indeed.

They are able to interpret visual imagery at much greater speed and often much greater accuracy than older respondents. It’s due to playing video games. It’s due to MTV; it’s due to having to process pop videos....

How to Influence Customer Behavior Using Psychology

How to Influence Customer Behavior Using Psychology | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Marketing is ultimately the science of persuasion. We use ads to convince people to choose us over our competitors or to buy now rather than later. We study analytics to see how convincing we actually are.

A basic understanding of some common psychological principles can really improve your messaging and increase the likelihood that a person will “convert,” or take the action you want them to take.

Just remember that no truth is absolutely universal in either psychology or marketing. There will always be people and situations that don’t fit the norm, so be sure to test your results!...

Psychology and Web design - how do they relate? CoderFactory

Psychology and Web design - how do they relate? CoderFactory | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Psychology and web design may seem like two very different areas with nothing in common, especially if you’re running an e-commerce site. However, if your primary goal is to increase your conversions- which it should be- knowing a few principles of behavioral psychology can help with that.

For example, “anchoring” is a decision-making strategy that shoppers use when they’re not sure how much they should pay for a product or service. When that happens, your audience looks to context clues to help make their decision, and they often end up choosing whatever the middle ground is. You can take advantage of this to boost your profits by adding an “extreme” option on the higher end of your options, thus funneling consumers towards the middle option.

You can also incorporate the principle of social herding, which states that people are more tribal than individual; instead of making decisions completely on their own, people find others with similar beliefs and values and go along with the group. Add a line to your newsletter or blog sign-up that says “Join 6,000 others and subscribe today!” to see this in action....

9 Psychology Triggers with Actionable Tips to Improve User Experience on Your Website | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

More the choices and features on your website and web application, the tougher it gets to understand your interface, therefore limit the number of choices for a better user experience. This results in higher user satisfaction and lesser bounce rates.

Strip all the non-essential features and elements from your website and mobile application. Think from a consumer’s perspective on different usability environments.

Are you asking too much information too soon on your website? Can the navigation be made simpler and clearer?’ Remove all the unnecessary options along a user’s journey....
