What Happens on YouTube in 24 Hours? | Cool Infographics | Public Relations and Social Media Tips | Scoop.it

It’s no secret that video is quickly becoming the #1 priority for both social media platforms and marketers alike. As consumers, we spend more and more time glued to our smartphones watching one video after another.

By 2017, it is estimated that video will account for 74% of all internet traffic in the world, making the upcoming year make or break time for any company that’s betting on video. As competition heats up, some of the most well-known platforms have rushed to report impressive statistics. While they may be staggering, such numbers tend to be cherry-picked and don’t necessarily show the full picture....

7 Ways to Create the Perfect Image for Your Social Content

7 Ways to Create the Perfect Image for Your Social Content | Public Relations and Social Media Tips | Scoop.it

In today’s visual world, you need more than a great headline to entice your readers to click and share. Your engagement on nearly every social platform, including your blog, is highly dependent on the images you associate with your content, and more importantly, on your audience’s perception of those images. Stock images that mildly relate to your content are not enough. The image needs to add to your social copy, and moreover, inspire a user to share....

aggiungi la tua intuizione ...

Morgan Lefkof's curator insight, September 20, 2014 8:40 PM

This article discusses the seven ways to have the perfect content in a photo on social networks. The first of the seven ways is that one picture will not always work on every form of social media. Images with certain colors have different reactions on different mediums of social media. The next way to have the perfect content in a photo on social networks is to make the photo personal. Pictures that trigger emotions catch the viewers. The third way is to embrace the text. This means that a company should try to include text on the image. The fourth way is to use action shots. Show “what is happening now, or what will be happening soon”. The fifth way is to include not only images in posts, but also GIFs. The sixth way is to make sure you include images that you find from other websites. And lastly, use multiple images.

Recently I believe that more companies are trying to steer away from wordy posts on social media. This article would be really helpful for companies who are new to posting pictures online. Because viewers scroll quickly through their social media feeds, it is important to have posts that are eye catching. This article gives companies a checklist of effective images to have on their social medias.

Gemma Shannon's curator insight, September 21, 2014 9:17 AM

Great article scooped by Jeff Domansky on top tips for creating images for your social content. One tip in particular resonated with me - the psychology of colours ; it is noted in the article that red/orange images receive double the amount of clicks as blue/green images on social media channels. Something worth bearing in mind if you want to optimise your engagement with fans/followers on social media through images. Another good tip related to including text on images to drive your brand's message home and including some text in larger font than others for emphasis -  a great iOS app for doing this is Wordswag.

Toastmasters say social media is killing social oratory, public speaking

ne of the most active branches in NSW is in Wattle Grove, formed in 1999.

“We give our members the tools they need to gain confidence in public speaking, and to perform well in any social or public setting,” Wattle Grove Toastmasters executive member Dell Pedemont said.

Members of Wattle Grove Toastmasters Club.

Ms Pedemont says membership of Toastmasters has done wonders for many people, including a plumber who joined so he could impress guest at his wedding with his speech, and university students hoping to make memorable presentations to impress peers.

Wattle Grove Toastmasters has about 40 members, and it is keen to attract more. That was a step Liverpool accountant Ash Said, 53, took last year.

“I had migrated from South Africa several years earlier, but I needed to improve my public speaking skills. Toastmasters put me on a pedestal,” Mr Said said.

He says Toastmasters is very important now, a time social media has taken over communication,

“Our youngsters need to come out and deliver great speeches in public. They’re missing out on the satisfaction that great oratory brings”.

How to Host a Great Press Conference

How to Host a Great Press Conference | Public Relations and Social Media Tips | Scoop.it

Last week, an audio technician for the television program Cops was killed by friendly fire while filming a robbery at a Wendy’s in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Omaha police chief, Todd Schmaderer, delivered an almost perfect press conference—one that stands in marked contrast to the shameful media interactions in Ferguson, Missouri—that should be studied by PR professionals as a terrific example of how to communicate in crisis.

PR pro Dave Statter, who writes the excellent STATter911 blog (and wrote about this story first), called this “one of the most effective and timely presentations following a police involved shooting I’ve witnessed.”

He’s right. Chief Schmaderer did many things right in this press conference. Below, you’ll find the five things that stood out to me most....
