CONTACT ARRANGMENTS FOR CHILDREN: A CALL FOR VIEWS

Ngozi Odochi (Godwell) Nwokocha's insight:

5. Further research studies focused on a) the child protection assessment process in cases of serious injuries to infants; and b) parents’ experiences of child protection services.

6. 2002–present: Provision of expert witness risk/parenting/family assessments in complex care proceedings cases throughout England and Northern Ireland. Issues regarding contact arrangements with children were central to many of these cases.

Interpreters – a duff contract? | Transform Justice | Public Law Children Act Adoption Cases | Scoop.it
This was a fiasco at the beginning, with the contract being awarded to a tiny company that could not cope but, more worryingly, the problems of interpreters not turning up do not appear to have eased much.  Lord Justice Munby, the head of the family division, summoned Capita (the current contractor) last week to explain why they couldn’t provide Slovak interpreters for a final adoption hearing. The excuses were exceedingly limp, and revealed a totally inadequate contract whereby interpreters can cancel bookings without penalty, where Capita informs the court of their inability to provide interpreters only hours before a case and, perhaps most significantly, Capita actually doesn’t have enough interpreters on its books to fulfill the need.  The contract of MoJ with Capita, and Capita with interpreters both seem to be at fault.  What no-one seems to have fully calculated is the cost of all the postponed cases.  It must be thousands, if not millions more than that saved on interpreter costs.

interpreter's curator insight, June 21, 4:04 PM

When I was a magistrate,  interpreters were frequent used to aid defendant, witness or both.  Occasionally there were problems with interpreters being late or not turning up, but not often. At that time, interpreters were booked by each court, using a local list of tried and trusted professionals. They were contracted for a half day at a time.   A few years ago it was decided that too much was being spent on interpreters, and that an national interpreter contract should be put out to tender.

Ward Andrews Centre - Milton Keynes

Assessing Families

Jane Andrews, Family Consultant at Ward Andrews spoke on the importance of ensuring families are assessed properly by the right person with the right expertise.

Jane outlined the importance of asking yourself three key questions when instructing an expert: 1. What type of expert do you want? 2. What do you need to know?  3. Why is this important and who has the necessary skills?

When receiving reports, they should be no longer than 30 pages and should contain an analysis of findings.  If you want recommendations, remember to ask for them!

Ngozi Odochi (Godwell) Nwokocha's insight:

This centre is the one originally involved in my family matter during the initial stage.

Ward and Andrew are two women.

Sean Carter told me, 'we use the centre to deal with people like you'. Of the prime importance the centre attended court, as an expert witness,  which is not allowed. Contact Centres are solely for the purpose of contact.

Please do not tell me child trafficking has eimploded to take on a brand new meaning.

Adrian Otis Goldsmith and social worker manager were busy dealing with me and sent my child and I to Ward Andrews Centre to finish off the job.  They told the judge to stop using the proceedings to harm us,  we found proceedings distressing and all contact note are of high quality.

Question why did Otis murder his wife when he could have chosen from a number of bent Public Officials with whom he had regular contact?

Eve and Graham Ward are foster carers. Reported the man was on the board of Northamptonshire County Council.

A mother has been found guilty of killing her baby daughter by filling her mouth with toilet paper and hiding her body in a suitcase.

Claudia Martins, 33, was convicted of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility after being acquitted of murder.

Martins gave birth alone at her sister's flat in Knowle, Bristol on September 12 last year after keeping her pregnancy hidden from her family and friends.

The Portuguese national was rushed to hospital after being found sitting in a pool of blood in the bath.

Police discovered the child's body two days later, after Martins' sister, Vilma, noticed a smell coming from a suitcase in the defendant's bedroom.

Childhood Trauma Leads to Brains Wired for Fear

Childhood Trauma Leads to Brains Wired for Fear | Public Law Children Act Adoption Cases | Scoop.it
Last week, a report by the University of San Diego School of Law found that about 686,000 children were victims of abuse and neglect in 2013. T

Traumatic childhood events can lead to mental health and behavioral problems later in life, explains psychiatrist and traumatic stress expert Bessel van der Kolk, author of the recently published book, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.

Children’s brains are literally shaped by traumatic experiences, which can lead to problems with anger, addiction, and even criminal activity in adulthood, says van der Kolk. Sound Medicine’s Barbara Lewis spoke with him about his book.

"Conservative brains" are wired for more fear based reactions than liberals. Does this mean that conservatives suffer from more childhood neglect and emotional abuse than children raised in liberal families?

Welcome to Protecting Canadian Children!

~Working amongst like-minded groups Nationwide~

The page is dedicated to fighting injustice against children, persons with diversity and the elderly. Protecting Canadian Children is a mission of life, death and love.

Families may find themselves targeted due circumstance, rather than true incidents requiring protective intervention. Far too many children are alienated from loved ones and tragically harmed. Stringent publication bans offer little opportunity to learn from errors, seek recourse facilitating truth or honour victims. No one should be above the law, including Government employees! We are a peaceful group. However, we have no intention of backing down from critical, controversial issues posing risk to vulnerable lives.

The System has become extremely unstable; thriving upon secrecy, lack of accountability and benefitting from others’ misfortune. Whole generations have been betrayed. We can no longer rely upon judicial outcome from authorities. This Nation has arrived at a critical point in which the people of Canada are excluded from our Government's priorities. Political leaders are unwilling to address urgent issues so it is time to demand and stabilize change ourselves.

NOTE: Families seeking advocacy have typically suffered victimization and thus, there will be zero tolerance for personal attacks, violence or bullying. This includes hateful commentary directed towards groups and individuals based upon age, race, religious belief and non-belief, gender or sexual orientation. We have a wide variety of persons amongst us comprised of natural parents, kinship, adoptive, foster carers, youth and professionals in various humanities hoping us to support improved outcomes and offer viable solutions. If an offensive post transpires and not removed quickly, it is best to report directly to Facebook as a moderator may not be available.

The goal of Protecting Canadian Children is to educate the public and better self-advocacy skills. We are volunteers striving to offer hope and direction stemming from personal experiences. We are a non-profit group without the advantage of government funding. All work that members do, time and expenses is solely out-of-pocket and from the heart.

The PCC Facebook page may be viewed strictly as a reference point where alliances can form. *Alert: Be cautious revealing sensitive information online. Social Utility networks are heavily monitored by Child Welfare, Lawyers, Police and Courts. We are not a legal authority and thus, cannot offer legal advice nor shall be held liable. Instead, we encourage the public to seek opinion from reputable, professional attorneys.
