Best For Music: PS4 or Xbox One?

Best For Music: PS4 or Xbox One? | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

"Let’s get one thing out of the way: Nobody buys a gaming console for music. Yes, modern consoles increasingly run all kinds of non-game apps — especially the entertainment kind — as the manufacturers of just about every type of consumer electronics aim to be the primary interface between people and their favorites 1s and 0s.

These are gaming machines, but they are also music machines, a fact that takes on a heightened importance because not every gamer has decided between Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4."

Webgrrl's insight:

I don't play games at all ~ but i do like a quality sound system and have always gone for the top end stuff - which i believe would ultimately be the main factor how the sound is heard. But for you boys and grrl gamers out there ~ which would you choose?

This sure looks promising.
Webgrrl's insight:

Cox told inthemix about his plans to launch a techno festival in Australia in 2016, -  concentrating on is underground DJs who have a vibe for house and techno,” he said. “Primarily you’re going to have the best DJs playing the best music.”

- looks like one of the acts in Carl Cox’s sights might have leaked their spot on the bill ahead of schedule. Stockholm-bred duo Pleasurekraft just told fans on their Facebook page that they’ll be in Australia come April 2016, the exact same time Cox told us he’ll be launching his bespoke festival Pure. Shpongle: 'I Don't Think We Can Abandon Psytrance. I’m Certainly Not Going To' | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

"There he goes. One of God's own protoypes. Some kind of high-powered mutant never considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die." Hunter S. Thompson wasn't talking about Raja Ram, but..

Webgrrl's insight:

At 74 years, Raja is still touring the world with his own singular brand of madness. Like some Pied Piper from beyond the doppelbereich, he dances about the stage playing the flute, "throwing hats to the people" and leading dusty dance floors into phantasmagorical states of rapture and delight. He's a quarter of the legendary psytrance act 1200 Mics and half of the strange, divine and utterly unclassifiable beast that is Shpongle with Simon Posford. - Pulseradio (read more..)

E. Jean Carroll’s 1993 memoir of Hunter S. Thompson (1937-2005) opens like this:

I have heard the biographers of Harry S. Truman, Catherine the Great, etc., etc., say they would give anything if their subjects were alive so they could ask them some questions. I, on the other hand, would give anything if my subject were dead.

He should be. Oh, yes. Look at his daily routine:

Music & Memory | The power of music in recalling the past. | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

Oliver Sacks – a British neurologist and pioneer of music and memory research – raises a question; how is it that a human being rendered incapable of recollection by their disease, is able to recall the past with music? How is it that music has the power to allow humans to regain their identity and through their past? Professionals of scientific and musical fields alike are investigating questions not dissimilar to these yet, it’s a case of the more we know the less we understand. | read more..

A man went on the marathon viewing to end all marathon viewings this week, apparently watching The Simpsons for over two days whilst eating LSD in the hope of finding a hidden truth to the series. The sheer number of Simpsons episodes in existence alone (578 and counting) are probably enough to induce hallucinations, but on acid the jaundiced community of Springfield must have been something else.

DJ Pete Tong has defended BBC Radio 1's first ever Prom, a musical homage to Ibiza, saying those opposed to dance music at the Proms need to "chill out".

DJ Pete Tong says BBC Radio 1's first Prom, a musical homage to Ibiza, will reach out to different audiences and help "keep the proms alive".

Webgrrl's insight:

"Just to stay stuck in the past or stay stuck within rigid guidelines, whatever you're doing, you'll struggle over a longer period of time," he said.
Billed as "less concert and more dance-party", the event will help mark the 20th anniversary of Radio 1 in Ibiza. Special guests including Ella Eyre and John Newman will perform with Jules Buckley and his Heritage Orchestra.
