Interconnection - visionary projection mapping - the winner of iMapp 2016

Winner of both awards of the contest: Jury's Choice Award and People's Choice Award.

Installation art collective Limelight has transformed the Parliament Building of Romania into a eye-popping, psychedelic light show for the iMapp Bucharest International Video Mapping Competition. Titled “Interconnection,” the video utilized projection mapping (also known as spatial augmented reality) techniques to render the world’s third largest building in a blaze of shape-shifting, technicolor graphics and animations. Taking home top honors at the event, the projection required the use of 104 video projectors to cast the 23,000 square meter surface of the Parliament’s front facade in over 1 million ANSI lumens... | Read & SEE more..

Paris Hilton Says She Was the Best DJ Burning Man Has Ever Seen

Paris Hilton Says She Was the Best DJ Burning Man Has Ever Seen  | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

Fresh off her “Foam and Diamonds” summer residency in Ibiza, though, and ready to burnnnnnnnnn.

“It was supposed to be a one-hour set and it turned into four hours because it was so sick,” Hilton said of DJing at Burning Man. “They said that out of every DJ who played on the stage, nobody rocked it like I did.”

Christopher Jenkins's curator insight, September 17, 7:02 PM

I am honestly shocked that they let this woman play at such a huge and sacred festival like burning man. Paris is one of the worst if not the worst DJ that have ever walked the planet. The fact that they let her turn her 1 hour set into 4 and no one boo'd her off the stage or threw something at her while she was performing like it has happened to her previously on multiple occasions. But she has more money that me so shes winning right? Good job Paris.

As we saw on social media last week, Paris Hilton was clearly living her best life (and probably your worst) at the Burning Man festival this year. She confirmed this at the Jeremy Scott fashion show on Friday night in New York City, which showed neon rave looks not dissimilar to the ones found in the desert.

“It was incredible; it’s one of my favorite experiences in the world,” she told the Cut of Burning Man. “It’s magic. It’s sick.”

This was not her first time attending the festival, but it was her debut DJing experience. Hilton was fresh off her “Foam and Diamonds” summer residency in Ibiza, though, and ready to burnnnnnnnnn.

Can Psychedelics Make Us More Moral? | BigThink | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

During its half-century stretch of illegality, questioning psychedelics has always been about health, personal or public. Drugs are bad, says the suburban housewife or urban executive as they ingest a daily cocktail of multi-billion dollar pharmaceuticals. Even food itself is a drug. Chemistry informs the foundation of our sense of self, our philosophies, our behavior.

It has always been about marketing. For example, we know sugar kills through its role in the various diseases of affluence, just as we know marijuana has never killed anyone. This misunderstanding of how chemistry affects our bodies not only pertains to health and economics, but morals as well. This is the very question Brian Earp is asking.  |  read more...

Can You Spot Daft Punk in this Where’s Waldo-style festival map | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

art by Cape Town illustrator Adam Carnegie sees a sprawling festival vista recreated in the style of ‘90s spot-the-stripey-jumpered-male book series Where’s Waldo. It’s mostly made up of standard festival fare like butt-naked bros and precarious portaloos. But look hard enough and you’ll be able to spot a host of music stars, living and dead.

E. Jean Carroll’s 1993 memoir of Hunter S. Thompson (1937-2005) opens like this:

I have heard the biographers of Harry S. Truman, Catherine the Great, etc., etc., say they would give anything if their subjects were alive so they could ask them some questions. I, on the other hand, would give anything if my subject were dead.

He should be. Oh, yes. Look at his daily routine:

Music & Memory | The power of music in recalling the past. | ELECTRONICAPEDIA | Artistry & Culture | Scoop.it

Oliver Sacks – a British neurologist and pioneer of music and memory research – raises a question; how is it that a human being rendered incapable of recollection by their disease, is able to recall the past with music? How is it that music has the power to allow humans to regain their identity and through their past? Professionals of scientific and musical fields alike are investigating questions not dissimilar to these yet, it’s a case of the more we know the less we understand. | read more..
