A new study suggests aggressive intervention in an intensive care unit (ICU) may lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms

A new Johns Hopkins University study of patients with acute lung injury discovered one in three people who required the use of mechanical ventilator showed substantial PTSD symptoms that lasted for up to two years.

I was reading David Aaronovich on this in the Guardian the other and have had clients affected by the trauma of being in ICU and the temporary psychosis that many of them experience and which leaves them traumatised.
