There are many different types of psychologists who perform a wide range of jobs. Learn more about the different types of psychologists and what they do.
Lekem Amsal's insight:

There are many types of psychologists, and they focus on different areas in which they are specialized.  If you are specialized in aviation, you will study the behavior of flight crew members as well as investigate how brain disease can impact human behavior.

Clinical is different; you diagnose and treat any mental illnesses, like a doctor. If you take an interest in investigation, you would be working as a cognitive.

If you enjoy, for say, talking to kids, counseling would be the best for you. You might want to be a counselor at a high school. If you have an interest in different cultures you can do cultural psychology, which is studying different cultures and how they affect peoples lives.

Psychologists do so much for our society. They help people deal with issues they may have, as well as just be there when someone is in need to talk.

I agree that child psychologists play a large part in the development of a child because in the first interactions that children experience, they shape their personality and views. If these interactions are traumatic or emotionally disturbing, a child could develop an abnormality with his/her social skills. It is a psychologist who specializes in children's behaviors who could find the cause of a child's actions and try to help. Psychologists who work in schools and health care centers are very important because they can help teachers and parents understand how students comprehend their topics and react to different situations children might encounter in life.

Lekem Amsal's insight:

Psychology is important and can improve things in your everyday life. Psychologists give tips for motivation, for say you want to learn a language. By this I mean set some clear goals that are related to the task you want to accomplish. By meeting with a psychologist you can improve your leadership skills. You can now identify a problem since you’ve seeked help before and know all that needs to be done is talk about the solutions with your group.

A psychologist helps you better your communication skills. This does not mean small talk or writing letters, by communication skills I mean expressing yourself. Eye contact is something you can learn by going to a psychologist.

I agree with you that psychology is important and can improve your life everyday. Also I agree with that you need some motivation to try new skills. When you said that psychologists help with your communication skills, I'm not saying that it's wrong it's just that when you're "impressing yourself," a psychologist can only do so much until you have to see a specialist for your communication. I know this because when I was in kindergarten, I went to a speech therapist to help with my communication skills. So all I'm saying is that a psychologist can help you but they don't really specialize in it. That's all, good job.

» A Psychopath’s Brain on fMRI - World of Psychology | Psychology | Scoop.it
Our newest blogger, Dr. Kelly McAleer, has an interesting two-part post about the use of fMRI imaging technologies to try and detect psychopathology in
Lekem Amsal's insight:

Having this career in psychology means working with all types of people, people who may be broken or traumatized by something or people who are psychopaths. Some people use this term to tease others, when this is a very serious disorder.

Research has it that the brains of psychopaths are physically deformed and prevent them from feeling fear and guilt.

This is no laughing matter. There are ways to control this, with pills for example. It is hard to know whether someone is a psychopath due to the fact they can mimic human emotion. If it caught, then talking it out in therapy can help. Although there is not much difference it is sure to help the person cope with this disorder. A psychologist can make a difference in that persons life just by talking to them.
