Difference Between Creativity and Innovation (with Comparison Chart) - Key Differences | educació | Scoop.it

“CHANGE” is the rule of nature. As technology is changing frequently and if you want to walk with the world you need to be creative and innovative as well. Nobody can make sure that the world is going to be same five years later because everything is changing with the blink of an eye. So, it is very important for all of us to know to keep ourselves updated. Creativity is related to ‘imagination’ but innovation is related to ‘implementation’. Here we have discussed all the significant differences between creativity and innovation, have a look.

The Hierarchy of IoT “Thing” Needs | Internet of Things | CyberSecurity | Privacy | educació | Scoop.it

To define an IoT “Thing,” I’m going to employ Maslow’s hierarchy of needs — that well-known human psychology paradigm typically displayed in the shape of a pyramid, with the most fundamental human needs (physiological needs like air, food and water) at the bottom and rising to the most esoteric needs (self-actualization or expression of full potential) at the apex.

The reason to think this way is to enable the use of familiar paradigms when “Thing” architecture and interaction models are designed. For example, consider this simple question: “What should you consider when purchasing an IoT thing?” With this new thinking, the answer becomes: “The same stuff you consider when you hire a new employee.” Trustworthiness, reliability and ability to work well with others form a great basis for consideration in both cases.

We neither need nor want to remove or diminish the role of the teacher in the "in-school" success of students. We do however need to amplify the role and the voice of students and their families. Learning doesn’t take place unless it is consensual; a willingness on the part of the teacher and family: to listen, to respond, and to understand the significance of how all these factors influence students in the process.

It is not about being a tech-savvy teacher, it is about embracing the fact that we do not, and cannot know everything, but that we are comfortable learning and trying with the students. "If you are not learning in the 21st century you should not be teaching in the 21st century."

I’ve been so focused on finding information on hybrid/blended/flipped/ technology savvy classrooms I was humbly reminded of something by reading this article. A teacher cannot only focus on the technology side of class; they also need to focus on being quality teachers. This article points out great mindsets teachers should welcome into their teaching schema.

What if young people designed their own learning? | educació | Scoop.it
Across Australia some of these ideas are being put into practice. Some schools have dropped the notion of year levels to enable them to meet children at their point of need and acknowledge that not all students learn at the same pace.

Computer programs are enabling instruction tailored to the student by assessing where they are at and providing a tailored curriculum.

Capabilities , such as personal and social capability and critical and creative thinking, are being embedded in the curriculum. Work is under way to develop assessment measures. Teachers across Australia are working on developing new models of practice to support this approach.

We need to accelerate the change. We are wasting too much of students’ learning time and are failing to amplify their talents. To continue along the current path is increasingly unscientific, unjustifiable and plain dull.

Why build a Personal Learning Network?

Why build a Personal Learning Network? | educació | Scoop.it
Time spent developing your Personal Learning Network is time well spent but it does take time. The danger busy teachers face is in becoming so engrossed in dealing with the day to day business of teaching that we make poor choices when it comes to time spent on our personal learning. We manage to find time for our students, for phone calls home, for report writing and programming all the while letting our engagement with learning slip down the list of things to do. Ensuring your personal learning is a priority is essential and should be seen against the value it brings to your students; enhance your teaching and you enhance their learning.

Munro, Hopkins and Craig recognise this when they state ‘Student outcomes depend on the teaching in the school, its pedagogic capital’. For you, your school and most importantly your students time invested in building a Personal Learning Network is time spent developing your pedagogic capital.

A great article ensuring that Educators make time to continually invest time into their own learning practices. Information is always changing, being updated,  being expanded, or being debated, so educators need to be aware of these adjustments. By analysing their knowledge and beliefs on certain topics and researching other perspectives educators will show growth and critical thinking in their own learning strategies.
