Top 10 Project Management Software for Remote Teams

Top 10 Project Management Software for Remote Teams | Project Management around the globe | Scoop.it
Having trouble communicating with your remote team? Shared the wrong file to the team, and it takes 3 hours to resend to them one by one again? Your remote team misunderstands your project’s milestones and even objective?

Eduardo Lucas's insight:

No matter how either big or small your team is, if you send the wrong message, things are bound to go wrong. Why not use some piece of software in order to help you out with this paramount activity. If you have members of your team remotely working, then these tools are almost mandatory. All you have to do is to choose the one which fits better your needs.

I love top ten lists because it is a way for busy Web project managers to get good info quickly and the list is a reference you can go back to later when you need to do an in-depth analysis. If you are working with remotely teams, this is a good top 10 list for you.

Ella Mark's comment, September 18, 2013 3:59 AM
Nice list of tools. I have a rich experience in remote collaboration and I am now managing a team that is spread across 4 states. I’ve tried a ton of project management and collaboration softwares, but only proofhub (www.proofhub.com) has helped me a lot.
How this important area of knowledge is carried out around the world.

An interesting list of signs and once again we are back to spreadsheets not being the ideal tool for the project manager. But where do the high value affordable to all tools come from?

Small and medium sized businesses are challenged to have a project tool available to all so what is the solution? Probably there are many depending on the needs of the organisation. We have recently used Redmine an open source tool to allow all in the project team to have a collaboration and project management tool. Hosted in the cloud with Amazon cloud services EC2 for a few pound a month this is an effective solution that will suit many that have nothing or are using spreadsheets. www.redmine.org for further details. This is true open source and everyone can use it. Several organisations support and host this package at reasonable costs.

Guilty as charged!  I judge way too quickly. I categorize too soon. I make huge assumptions about people based on a very small sampling of their actions.  We need to stop, take a breath, open our eyes and look beyond.

Change Management in the Trenches

Change Management in the Trenches | Project Management around the globe | Scoop.it
Peter Drucker is attributed with the quote, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” While still the case, postsecondary culture must adjust to both rapid and longer-term shifts in the world around it. The ecologies that have long constituted its culture, including those we all live in and work with, have become even more open as systems. This session focuses on developing attendees’ personal and organizational capacities for effectively managing both anticipated and unpredictable changes in their institutions. This ecological approach identifies where external changes are likely to affect the organization and what it can do to create a "flexible" culture that does not eat strategy. Participants will work with multiple examples of change in their own institutions during a variety of interactive learning experiences.

Audience:
Mid- to upper-level administrators who have responsibility for leading one or more campus units and need to successfully manage change in their organization.
