Welcome.

Important information below...........

MrsGillard's insight:

There are two levels:

*Highly Accomplished Teacher

*Lead Teacher

Accreditation at the higher levels requires three aspects:

1. Evidence via documents (PDF)

2. Referee statements from 3-8 teachers (incl. principal)

3. External Observation - a BOSTES trained teacher from your subject area observes your lessons/activities for one day.

Those teachers wishing to accredit at the level of Highly Accomplished Teacher or Lead Teacher who start their accreditation after July 15th 2013, will be expected to use the National Professional Standards for Teachers. (Australian ones)

Highly Accomplished & Lead Teacher procedures. (May 2015)

MrsGillard's insight:

This document will scroll if you drag down the side of the document.

This document is for DEC staff. Staff seriously considering the process should evaluate their classroom practice with a critical friend prior to the discussion with their supervisor/principal. (referred to on page 3)

Self-Assessment Tool from aitsl | Highly Accomplished Teacher & Lead Teacher | Scoop.it
MrsGillard's insight:

This is the Self Assessment Tool from aitsl. To evaluate your personal readiness for Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher try this free tool.

I'm not a big fan of this tool but other teachers have enjoyed it as an evaluation tool. It can work as a way to familiarise yourself with the standard descriptors ......... I guess.

BOSTES - Accreditation at Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher. | Highly Accomplished Teacher & Lead Teacher | Scoop.it
Find out how to get teacher accreditation in NSW and work through the various levels of accreditation as you move through your career.
MrsGillard's insight:

Link to the BOSTES information.

To start the journey, click on the title (BOSTES - Accreditation at Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher) then the link 'How to apply for Highly Accomplished (or Lead Teacher) Accreditation'.

I highly recommend downloading one of these documents:

*Evidence Guide for the Highly Accomplished Teacher Standards

*Evidence Guide for the Lead Teacher Standards

These are also available on the 'Teaching Standards in Action' website.

You do not need to complete the 'online preliminary assessment' but it is recommended as it will give you a strong indication if you are working at the appropriate level.

You should discuss the application with your principal before proceeding with your application.

Maintaining Accreditation at the level of Highly Accomplished Teacher.

Once you accredit you then start your Maintainence period.

MrsGillard's insight:

Teachers accredited at the Highly Accomplished Teacher level maintain their accreditation by completing a report on their teaching practice and completing at least 100 hours of professional development within a designated period (five years for full-time teachers and seven years for part-time/casual teachers). The 100 hours of professional development comprises:

- at least 20 hours of Institute Registered professional development (provided by NSW Institute of Teachers’ endorsed providers, and registered on the Institute’s online database);

- 80 hours of Teacher Identified professional development, 20 hours of which should be Professional Commitment Activity.
