How to Reduce Your Mail to Almost Nothing

How to Reduce Your Mail to Almost Nothing | Prionomy | Scoop.it

I love the posts from this guy. When he say "Personal Development for Smart People" he has probably right. If you're in struggle with your junk mail, this post will give you some insights to change that. [note MG]

It’s been estimated that the average American will spend about 8 months of his/her life opening junk mail. Would anyone consciously choose to do that? Probably not. But how many will end up doing it anyway?

And this is just the average. Some poor folks actually spend years of their lives processing junk mail. This is especially common if you have multiple sources of mail, such as your home and a business.

Each piece of unwanted mail you process is a needless waste of your life. It’s also a major source of distraction that gets you thinking about things that are off course for you.

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload

How Brands Can Manage Facebook Comment Overload | Prionomy | Scoop.it
Large-scale waves of Facebook comments can come at any time, for a variety of reasons. Try these steps for effective comment management.

Human beings are social by nature, and not surprisingly, we choose to spend much of our talkative time on Facebook.

Comscore released data in December 2011 that showed Facebook is virtually synonymous with social media. Worldwide, people spend three out of every four minutes of their total social networking time on Facebook.

Check out the recent comment counts on nearly any major Facebook brand Page — the numbers get big very quickly. Disney’s image of Happy, the dwarf from Snow White earned over 1,600 comments at the time of publication. Coca-Cola asked fans whether they have ice-cold Cokes in their fridges – 2,170+ comments.

The State of Social Media and Social Media Marketing in 2012

Social media is a source of endless discussion. With the advent of new tools and / or platforms every day, keep up has become a challenge. But some among the many are the undisputed leaders and decide largely on what will be the future. This slide presentation may give us interesting information on the trends and what might we expect in 2012 and beyond. [note Martin Gysler]

Social networking is the #1 activity online. Even though Google gets the most visitors, Facebook is where most of us are spending our time. And it’s not just about Facebook anymore. We are spending a lot of time on LinkedIn, YouTube, Tumblr and Twitter. While there are some clear major players in the social space, the social media universe continues to expand and 2011 was a banner year for the idea of an "Interest Graph."

In 2011, we saw Google launching Google+ and Pinterest grewing at an astounding rate. Facebook launched "Timeline" and "frictionless sharing" with partners like the much anticipated Spotify. Facebook also acquired design companies and the team behind Gowalla, showing the company’s intent to provide a consistent experience across devices and becoming a more prominent player in the mobile space.

How to Brand Your Product. Is branding good for your business?

How to Brand Your Product. Is branding good for your business? | Prionomy | Scoop.it

The establishment and protection of a good brand name doesn't come cheap, but the equity value of a good brand name can be worth many times more than the annual earnings of the business itself.

Developing and building any new brand is time consuming and very expensive. Your competitors will be only too happy to ride on your success if you allow them.

To prevent this, you must protect your brands, slogans and logos from the very moment that you decide to use them. That means doing so even before you introduce your brands to the world. This protection is vital.

One Reason Why Your Blog Isn’t Making Money

One Reason Why Your Blog Isn’t Making Money | Prionomy | Scoop.it

According to one estimate, 3 million posts will be published today. Approximately 540,000 of these posts were written by professional bloggers trying to transition their audience from reading to buying. Others hope their posts are compelling enough to prompt a return visit.

However, most bloggers aren’t making a dime from their blog.

The reasons why haunt each blogger every night. Are they passionate enough? Are they engaging enough? Surprisingly, these are the wrong questions to ask.

The reason why most blogs don’t make money can be traced back to one decision (or lack of one).

The World is My Audience

Social media is the most egalitarian marketing discipline since broadcast media. Bloggers naturally feel that everyone is interested in their topic. You rarely hear people wondering if they have the right readers. They just assume that they do. Even when they think about their reader’s characteristics, it’s done on a surface level.

Where To Find Free Images: Free Stock Photo Sites

Where To Find Free Images: Free Stock Photo Sites | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Getting images for free is great, and there is a lot of choice out there, but sourcing images from a free site can have its drawbacks, the license that the images are provided with is different on every site you use. Some sites prohibit commercial use of the image, most require an attribution, some require you register or signup to a newsletter to access the images, some ask that you seek permission first etc.

A word of warning: Expecting that nobody will notice if you make use of an image that you just take without permission is foolish, tools like TinEye make it free and easy to find who has used an image without permission, and stock agencies like getty and others use paid services like picscout.com track image misuse, bill the offender, taking legal action if images are not removed. If you are using images without the correct license, someone will catch up with you sooner or later. here's a typical forum quote "I currently have a demand from getty images for $1200 over an image I hot-linked to in a blog entry 2 years ago."

With that in mind, here's our definitive list of resources providing free stock photos with a table of comparisons:...

12 Most Wipe-it-Out Tips I Learned on the way to Inbox Zero

12 Most Wipe-it-Out Tips I Learned on the way to Inbox Zero | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Inbox zero... it's a dream or a nightmare for you? Sometimes I wonder, why should I be always in this situation, it's only stress for me. But, if you want it, here twelve advices to do so. [note Martin Gysler]

Email Inbox Zero. At times it can feel like the El Dorado of digital organization — everyone thinks it will bring them organizational bounty, but it proves horribly elusive.

However, it can be done. I’ve been there, more than once.

You too can get there — with the help of the dozen top tips I learned along the way.

1. Decide how often you want to be at zero

Having your inbox permanently at zero is impossible. Having messages come in is, after all, half the point of email. As a lot of my work is built around weekly cycles, for me hitting inbox zero at the end of each week is the aim; for you it might be each day.

This post is part of the “Marketing That Works” Ideas Contest, showcasing 20 of the most innovative marketing ideas from the blogosphere’s up and coming marketers. If you like the post, please show your support for the contestant by tweeting, liking, sharing, and commenting below!

For my marketing idea, I created something called the “Hashtag Game.”

Like Naomi Dunford said: “It’s the shit that we do to get people to buy our shit.” There are many things we can do to attract potential readers and customers such as: producing powerful content; word of mouth; Facebook marketing; free eBooks to lure people in; and guest posting.

There are also the little, effortless things that we forget to do that can add up overtime: adding hashtags at the end of our tweets.

For example: If I were tweeting “Engagement From Scratch” . . . and let’s just say I don’t have 50,000 followers but I want to spread the word about it.

How to use Natural Networking to connect with anyone — including the exact email scripts

How to use Natural Networking to connect with anyone — including the exact email scripts | Prionomy | Scoop.it

How many of us have heard career experts telling us to “go out there and network”?

What does that actually mean? They never seem to specify.

So we end up going to 1 or 2 pointless networking events, which actually turn out to be a bunch of unemployed people looking for jobs, until we realize the pointlessness of random networking. We stop going. But we keep hearing about the importance of our network, and we hear about how most jobs are found through personal contacts. Pretty soon, it becomes clear to us that it’s WHO you know, not WHAT you know. But we have no idea how to actually turn that realization into something actionable.

There’s a game going on around us that we don’t even see.

And today, I want to show you exactly how to decode it — along with the specific email scripts to use. If you’ve been waiting for the real story on how networking actually works, this is it.

The Secret to Attracting 1,000 True Fans

The Secret to Attracting 1,000 True Fans | Prionomy | Scoop.it

Everyone says play bigger, grow; keep expanding.

But is all growth and development good, or even necessary?

I’ve learned that there’s no guarantee that growth will make a difference in your business. You can have more people on your list, and no one actually buying. You can have more traffic, and only crickets in your comments section.

There’s a big difference between growth that’s meaningful and growth that’s hollow. The difference is depth.

A lot of people say you need 1,000 true fans. I think that’s a good, tangible goal to aim for.

For our purposes, “True Fans” are defined as: People that buy everything you create. When you announce the launch of a product, creation, or offer, they are actively waiting for you to release it. They refresh the “coming soon” page. They comment on every post. They tell everyone they can about what you do.

1,000 is good because it’s a number that we can wrap our minds around. It seems like a stretch, but it also seems doable. You can convert one true fan a day if you’re really on your game.

It's all about Identifying Your Skills to the Industries | Prionomy | Scoop.it
There are different ways to deal with skill weaknesses in the working world. It is fairly easy (and common) for a leader who struggles with organization to rely on someone else to keep their schedules and times in line.

However, even with this extra help, some skill sets just fit better with certain industries. Many leaders end up in specific industries naturally because of their strongest skills. Those who are unhappy with their business might want to consider moving to a different industry that is more oriented to their strengths...
