Here is the strange case of 85-year-old Merrill Newman--a U.S. veteran detained by the North Korean government for his role in a special Army group that trained and supported Korean partisans during the Korean War (1950-1953).  This group was active behind enemy lines during that conflict.  Some military analysts think Newman wanted to return to his former area of service to seek closure for what happened during that war.  His trip back in time and place may have been a mistake.  Aloha, Russ.

Russell Roberts's insight:

Ninety-year old Pearl Harbor survivor Edward Shatz was bumped from a L.A. to Honolulu flight.  Shatz was flying alone to be with other Pearl Harbor vets for a special ceremony on Saturday.  United Airlines said it bumped 41 other passengers from the flight because of weight restrictions.  Shatz claimed he and a wheelchair-bound passenger were the only ones taken off the flight.  United Airlines said it booked Shatz on later flight to Maui.  Once news of the bumping got around the internet, outrage turned to help, as veterans groups and Hawaiian Airlines helped get the elderly veteran to Oahu on time to join the last few survivors of that famous attack.  I believe United Airlines could have handled this case a little better.  Aloha, Russ.

Russell Roberts's insight:

Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) president Warren Lee says the bidding and planning process is taking longer than expected.  Lee believes many companies are balking at the idea of extending geothermal energy production on Hawaii Island because they can't peg the price of their energy to the price of oil.  Presently, geothermal energy is priced to its equivalent in imported oil.  Lee wants investors in geothermal energy to reduce their energy production costs to be more competitive with the price of imported petroleum.  Aloha, Russ.
