DebbyBruck's insight:

We have been told mammograms are the only form of prevention for women. Everyone has cancer cells throughout their lifetime that the immune system eliminates and controls. Learning to harness the power of the innate immune system will be the best form of prevention. My article on mammograms gives a full explanation of screening techniques and risks. http://debbybruck.hubpages.com/hub/mammography-controversy-screening-homeopathy

Dominique Dock's curator insight, September 20, 2013 3:35 PM

not to mention the radiations received at each of those mammograms...

Image (with permission) – NatureHacks.com Fleas, as pestilent as they are, are actually fascinating creatures. One of their best known “super powers” is their ability to jump hundreds of times their own body length. If we could perform a similar feat, we would be able to jump over buildings with ease. Looking up the flea on Wikipedia, I learned that their jump is not caused by muscular action, but by “energy stored in a protein named resilin”. [1]Fleas also have very tough little bodies, which are amazingly crush-resistant for their size.

Reams of research show that all carbs aren’t created equal. Drinking a soda or eating 2 large apples may have the same amount of calories and carbs, but the two carbohydrate sources are not metabolically equivalent.  Carbs that cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels appear to be linked to adverse health effects, like obesity, type 2 diabetes and inflammation.

Homegrown Herbal Medicines

Homegrown Herbal Medicines | Prevention & Vitality Central | Scoop.it

"Explore the many benefits of growing herbal medicines. Plant medicinal plants and herbs in your own backyard and start reaping the benefits of herbal medicines

You might be surprised to learn that you can grow herbal medicines in your own back yard. Although many homesteaders embrace herbal medicine, not everyone realizes how well these traditional medicines work, or that you can grow them on your own land.

One obstacle is that many people still equate herbal medicine with superstition, thinking it’s all folklore, of no proven value. But if that were true, it would be a surprise to the big pharmaceutical companies that are scrambling to isolate and test the active components of many traditional medicinal plants and herbs."
