To Be a Better #Leader, Learn How to Learn

To Be a Better #Leader, Learn How to Learn | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it

Here’s the problem: More than ever before, change is the rule, not the exception, in business. Globalization means more competition. The technology that makes you better than your competition today is obsolete tomorrow. Any knowledge you already possess is depreciating at an accelerating rate. How do you cope with the instability of it all?

Excellent tips!

I would like to offer one key philosophy that we at our company have been offering to our leaders.....Learning is not enough, we as leaders need to be constantly learning, unlearning, and re-learning.  The game has changed and the rules are evolving by the minute.

Keep your running shoes on, the ride is exciting as long as you remain open, flexible, and adaptable to change.  Remember, if it is difficult...you are about to grow and learn something new.

Hope you enjoy the article and my humble nuggets:)

Until next time...PS - Live on Purpose!

Christopher Janney's curator insight, May 28, 8:23 AM

The way we understand leadership today needs to evolve. Understanding that what you once knew that got you where you are is not enough to keep going is important. Understanding the new responsibilities and expectations of leaders is important. For instance, being a good leader sometimes means being a good follower. And as this article points out, a good leader is a consummate learner. Without that, the things you are leading people to have already passed and others are already on to the next thing.

This is when story time comes in handy. Tired of reading article after article about how to answer the usual questions? Take some time out to answer them once and for all!  Make a story for each question, rehearse (via recording yourself) and go from there. As night follows day, the SAME QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED DURING INTERVIEWS!

#Interviewing - don't throw in the towel!

#Interviewing - don't throw in the towel! | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
Patricia D. Sadar - Career and Leadership Acceleration Coach's insight:

I can't say that I have met many people who said that they love interviewing.  As a matter of fact, most people have found it to be hard work and a bit stressful.

While you may not have much choice about the resume, application, and interview process...you always have a choice of how you approach it.  Remember why you are interviewing, and keep your goals in sight.

Do your best to surround yourself with people who will lift and support you.  Don't ever think that you are alone -- that is what this community is all about -- helping eachother reach our goals!

Until next time...Hoping these articles, tips, and quotes help you accelerate your success and live on Purpose!

Sometimes, it's good to know when to quit...and go another direction. You're not quitting for good--you're quitting because what you've been doing isn't working.  There's a huge difference, and continuing to beat your head against a brick wall isn't going to help at all.
