Well, the chart above could perhaps qualify as the “chart of the century” because it illustrates one of the most remarkable achievements in human history: the 80% reduction in world poverty in only 36 years, from 26.8% of the ...
m.y's insight:

This is my insight through STW

S- The world poverty rate decreasing as a whole. Apparently it was due to globalization, free trade and the boom in international entreprenuership.

T- I think it is a great accomplishment for the world poverty  to drop so much.

W- Is this really true?

Does Globalization really affect so much?

Can a mere free trade affect so much?

I agree with Meiyi's comment as although the charts say poverty has decreased by alot, no one knows whether it is true or not. There might be many people who are hidden from sight, in some other country, that the world doesn't know about. But I really hope the chart is true, for it means that the 'standard' of poverty is increasing.

Even though the world poverty rate is decreasing rapidly, I think those who did not receive help gets poorer and poorer while some of their counterparts get help and eventually break out of the poverty zone. So overall, all the poverty is concentrated on the rest of the 5.4% of the world, instead of being spread out over 26.8% of the world. Therefore, I think poverty is a more serious situation now than in the past, despite the number of people stepping out of poverty.

m.y's insight:

This is my insight using STW.

S- More and more people are setting up organisations to help those in poverty. They believed in easing family poverty through childhood education. Many others willingly helped this new organisation.

T- I think its really a good thing to know that there are people out there who would help the poor. I think the organisation has a really clear mindset of providing better education for the kids rather than just giving them food.

W- Why are people not supporting these organisations?

Why is the government not supporting these organisations?

Will these organisations really help the people facing poverty?

m.y's insight:

This is my insight using STW

S- Teachers accompanied by students travelling to a less fortunate village in Africa for a community building trip. Most of them gave their belongings to the locals.Students helped the locals in rebuilding their homes

T- I think this trip is very educational for the students. I think that the students are very helpful for providing assistance to the locals. I think the teachers and students are very kind to give their belongings to the locals

W- Why did they choose that place?

Why did they want to help the locals?

Why does the government not help the locals?
