Government fails Traveller, migrant children and those who are at risk of poverty

Government fails Traveller, migrant children and those who are at risk of poverty | poverty | Scoop.it
The Children’s Rights Alliance gave the government an overall ‘C’ grade in this year’s report card.
Jordan OKP's insight:

those children who are suffering poverty are have bad grades and when it happens the children continue to live in poverty. By helping those children who are in poverty the nation can reduce the amount of people who are in poverty in the future. Why is it difficult for the children who are facing poverty to have good grades?

Most people in poverty are 'in work'

Most people in poverty are 'in work' | poverty | Scoop.it
The majority of the 13 million people classed as living in poverty in the UK are in work, a charity's report suggests.
Jordan OKP's insight:

Many people in the world are facing poverty and most of the people who are facing poverty have a job. Knowing that many people that are  facing poverty and have work but still suffering from poverty due to the low income from the jobs, from what i have known many people have a every low income and needs to support there family through poverty are working, this shows that the welfare of the worker are bad. The point is surely that too much "work" is ill-paid & part time - and often largely unskilled. If they don't want to become a low wage sweatshop, they need to have a much higher minimum wage that will encourage businesses to invest in the skills of their workforce instead of treating it as disposable. They have a vicious circle of low wages & low expectations. How are the people going continue to live in such poverty if they do not change?

Obama: 'Nobody who works full-time should have to live in poverty ... | poverty | Scoop.it
President Obama used his executive authority to raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers on Wednesday, declaring: “In the richest nation on earth, nobody who works full-time should have to live in poverty.”.
Jordan OKP's insight:

The people who are facing poverty some are a full time worker and have a low wages . People who are working full time should not face poverty but due to the low wages the full time worker are facing poverty. With the  executive order from the president Obama the minimum wages should be $10.10/hr people who are working full should not be facing poverty. By increasing the minimum wages will it help those who that are not working full time?
