As a Singaporean I believe that everyone has a part to play and there are sure to be poverty in Singapore because no country is perfect and the government are helping people who are going through poverty.
Everyone in Singapore is doing a part by donating during flag day and students are doing ViA or CIP for the community and that is a form of helping the people in Singapore who may be going through poverty or may not be.
Some people say that Singaporean are not doing anything about poverty but I strongly believe that by helping it does not mean that they have to be out of the poverty! By helping it means that we do what we can to help them with their living and probably their educations for children or even just by providing meals for them daily. I believe that they will be very thankful about it.
In February 2010, Matthew and Andrew Jones founded Poverty Resolutions with the hope of helping those most affected by the devastating earthquake that had st...
Chang Juliet's insight:
I feel that poverty might seem like it is just something that poor people have to go through and to some people... they think that those people who are going through it just have to work hard in order to get out of it but the fact is that. No matter how hard they work, they only earn about one dollar or even lesser a day. They living condition there isn't as good as how it is like in any other countries.
The determination that can be seen through the way people who are living in that condition is really touching because not everyone is about to stay in those conditions! Even the 4 guys who were there for 28 days with only one dollar a day felt that it was a really challenging thing to do when they were there the first few days.
Those people who are working and trying to support their family is has to give up a lot and they have to be determinate because without determination, they may not survived for so long as they have to carry about 100 pounds over their everyday for 6 hours just to earn 1 to 2 dollars.
Not all the children there would be able to study in schools. The population of childrens who are studying is about 560 but after an earthquake... It ends up with only about 200+ students.
Everyone is able to do a part in helping poverty like what the four guys did over the 28 days, giving the people there joy, laughter and happiness.
every 3 seconds a child dies as a result of extreme poverty...think about it...and do something.
Chang Juliet's insight:
Seeing child dying due to their condition is very saddening.
We all know that someone out there is dying due to their living conditions but not everyone knew that every 3 seconds a child dies because of extreme poverty.
This tells us that we should always think of what others are going through despite the difficulties.
It may seem like it is not real or some people may think that how is that possible but we have to accept the fact and we should always learn to appreciate the love ones around us and cherish them. The children there may not be able to have a home or even have their parents by their side. That tells us that we should not take things for granted and also to appreciate the food we have and not waste it.
