Krithigah Muthukumar's curator insight, February 23, 2014 1:23 AM

Cecil Coles, 53, a certified forklift operator, he had a good job moving pallets at chemical Processing plant. He undergoes a botched surgery on a bum knee causing him to lose the job. He struggled to support is family. His wife worked as an nurse’s aid, but its wasn’t sufficient enough to support the family. So they here homeless.  I have heard the many people around the world struggles to support the family because of a operation or surgery causing the whole family helpless. While reading this article i thought that they should ask for help to the government as far as I know Singapore provides every homeless person a shelter so I thought they would have gotten help but when they went to the Salvation Army they told him that the 85 family rooms were already occupied. I wonder why is there 85 and more families being homeless. Why are there so many many people homeless suffering for a shelter but no avail. Why is the government not taking action about this issue. Thousands who have lost jobs over illness or other factors visit food pantries and homeless shelters, often for the first time.
