The Africans migrant came to Italy in hope of having a better but the Italy government did not even care about them and just left them on their own without helping them.

The Italian government did not have a proper planning for the African refugees, this shows how the government has shown very little interest in helping the African refugees. The African refugees were wrong thinking that they would lead a better and more comfortable life in Italy. Due to the neglection of the society which is an act of racism, they were unable to even have basic necessities which might be as bad or even worse than where they came from. The government should treat everyone fairly in the country since the country has already accepted the African refugees as part of them.

Ray Kang's curator insight, July 16, 2014 6:59 AM

As stated in the article, the African people have risked their lives searching for the refuges, I think it is basic human right to have a proper place to live in and receive education so that they can be self-reliant. The Italian government should take the responsibility to take care of its own people.

Navas Ibraahim's curator insight, July 16, 2014 11:41 AM

I strongly feel that it is an act of racism for Italy to not helping the people in Africa. In my perspective, I strongly believe that everyone should be treated equally as well as lend a helping hand to others regardless of race and religion. The government of Italy should teach its citizens to treat anyone regardless of which race or religion.

World Cup Racism in Brazil: Bad or No Biggie? | VICE News | Conflict and Prejudice by Joel Lim | Scoop.it
From fans in blackface to Twitter memes showing Colombians snorting field chalk, the 2014 World Cup is fertile ground for racial shittiness.

Joel Lim's insight:

From this article, I felt very disgusted by the adults' behavior, they should all know fully well that doing this kind of act will definitely hurt the black people but they still continue to do so. If they were treated the same way they treat the black people, wouldn't they feel sad and hurt too?

Jordan Chua's curator insight, July 5, 2014 5:34 AM

In my opinion, what i find most appalling is that these acts are being committed by grown adults, fully aware of the grievous hurt they can cause to members of the receiving party. Not only are they disrespecting the beautiful game on the biggest stage on earth, they do not seem to be displaying the slightest bit of remorse.

Keith Lee's curator insight, July 13, 2014 3:02 AM

Germans rooting for Ghana paint their faces black with make up and wear afro-wigs. This portrayal has offended some Ghana fans as well some has expressed that they should not be portrayed as caricature.  To me, painting faces black to mimic your favourite team, ridiculing them at the same time meaning to support them, is not right.

Racism becomes normal among young Israelis

Racism becomes normal among young Israelis | Conflict and Prejudice by Joel Lim | Scoop.it
Something stinks in the state of Israel says Israeli citizen Ilene Prusher. That something is racism, both the assaults on non-Jews by Jews and the wider refusal to give such racism its proper name.

Joel Lim's insight:

From this article, i felt shocked those Israeli soldiers could just target Palestinian children for doing nothing and was forced to confess to crime they did not commit. The soldiers mindsets are all wrong about Palestinian children and if this goes on, the consequences will dire.

Shernis Ong's curator insight, July 13, 2014 9:21 AM

It is very disappointing when racism becomes a norm among the young people as they grow up hating people from other races. It is a very corrupt mindset and we should all learn to accept one another.

Phonehtet Aung's curator insight, July 13, 2014 9:56 AM

What they have done and said about the Palestinian children are horrifying and this should not have happened. Everyone should be treated equally and they should not abuse other races.

Jia Hui's curator insight, July 13, 2014 11:22 AM

I know that a person's hatred for someone cannot be erased in a short period of time. However, the Israelis should never "seized and detained dozens of Palestinian children, some aged as young as eight", no matter how much they are against the Palestinian people. They should put themselves in the shoes of the Palestinian parents so that they will know how much it hurts to lose their children and they would not want the Palestinian people to do the same to them. Therefore, if only each party is willing to learn to accept the other and try to get along with one another, there will then be hope for this conflict to end.
