The economy of Asia is always growing, thus the gap between the poor and the rich will become bigger and bigger. There are 830 million people live in extreme poverty while there are some other people spending money like it is dirt. Although governments in Asia are roping in the private sector to help care for the less fortunate, but it is not enough to help everyone. There are also lots of people donating to charities. But where will all this money go? Will they be pocketed? This are some of the questions that people will often think about when it comes to donating. Therefore, the people who are organising the event must be honest and give all the money that they have collected to the poor people so that they can live a better live.

Many people are suffering from poverty, even as many charity groups are helping, the fight against poverty is still tough. As the economies in many developing countries in Asia are getting better the income gap between the rich and poor is rising as the poor earn more but the poor get poorer. What are the possible ways to help the poor other than donating? Could the income gap be made closer in order to help the poor?

Wong Jia Ler's curator insight, February 4, 2013 8:40 AM

I see that many people are suffering from poverty although there are many charity groups and donation drives being carried out, poverty is still a singnificant problem in Asia. There is a difference between the rich and the poor now, and it is even getting bigger and bigger. Will the rich donate? Or will they just stand by and watch the poor suffer. Or will the goverment help the poor and close the gap between the rich and the poor?
