An Inexpensive Fabric Could Recharge Your Cell Phone In Your Pocket | Post-Sapiens, les êtres technologiques | Scoop.it

Scientists have created technology that would allow you to charge your cell phone in your pocket. David Carroll at Wake Forest University created Power Felt, which uses carbon nanotubes on a bed of plastic as conductors of electricity. The fabric feeds off warmth from the sun or your body heat.

Thierry Curty's comment, August 12, 2:26 AM

Baggage Culture and Why Embracing Transhumanism Doesn’t Come Easy

Baggage Culture and Why Embracing Transhumanism Doesn’t Come Easy | Post-Sapiens, les êtres technologiques | Scoop.it
Twenty years ago, while in college and wondering why everyone else in the world wasn't hell-bent on trying to live indefinitely via the promising fields of transhumanist science, I began working on the idea of what mass culture is and if it was holding back people from wanting to maximize their lifespans and human potential. I came up with the concept baggage culture, which is explored in detail in my novel The Transhumanist Wager and its philosophy Teleological Egocentric Functionalism (TEF).

I’ve had the honor of serving as editor-in-chief of The Journal of Evolution and Technology (henceforth “JET”) since January 2008 – so it’s now approaching seven years! Where did the time go? Having been invited by Kris Notaro to write something about an aspect of transhumanism as it involves me professionally. I’m taking the opportunity to reflect briefly on JET and its mission. We have a great story to tell, and perhaps we should tell it more often.
