Seeing Possibilities | Possibilities,Conflict and Prejudice_ L.Vengaadesh | Scoop.it

vengaadesh's insight:

From this article I can see that attitude is a very important factor in realizing in reaching the possibilities. When we want to do something we must do it with a positive thought that way we will be able to achieve what we want to. Thus what we think is what we become so if we think positively the results would be a positive one and if we think negatively in the result would be a negative one. I would conclude that attitude is everything.

Teo J-lyn's curator insight, July 3, 2013 3:23 AM

I can see that when people are awlays being exposed to negative thoughts and information, they tend to make bad choices due to their negative thoughts, affecting the way he or she lead their life. This cause people to feel demoralised , which will also affect the way they think. Thus, it is important to think positive, and see the brighter side of life. This will allow people to strive towards their goal, and have their desired outcome. I think attitude plays a important role in the way we think. i wonder why do people not think the positive side of life.

Jaslyn Si Jia's curator insight, July 4, 2013 5:59 AM

After reading this article, I realized that positive attitude is needed to determine the life we're living in and also the possibilities that we can achieve. Many people may be affected in their life due to the negative thoughts and attitude that they have, if they had positive attitude in all the things they do, they would live a better life and discover things that they might have never discovered before. These positive attitude and thoughts leads to finding even more possibilities and lead us to the right path onto our future.

Coven Chong Weng's curator insight, July 5, 2013 7:09 AM

From this article, i realise that with the right attitude, we can come up with all different kind of outcome in some situations. If your attitude is positive for everything, everything might just turn out the way that you want it. However if you have a negative attitude, things will not go the way you want it to and it might get even worse. Thus, i wonder why some people dont think with a positive attitude.

vengaadesh's insight:

From this article I can see that through the hundred years of conflict there were many riots between the Tamil Tigers and the Sinhalese. Due to the riots there was bloodshed. If the Sinhalese and the Tamils had sorted out their problems in the first there would not have any misunderstanding in the first place. Many innocent lives have been lost in the process due this conflict. However I think that the Tamil Tigers are doing the right thing in fighting for their freedom. However I think they should use less lethal ways in doing so. I wonder why the conflict lasted for such a long period of time.

Sean Tay's curator insight, July 2, 2013 7:50 AM

From this article, it tells me the importance of not discriminating others and being prejudice. By doing so, the sinhalese in the article has managed to unknowingly be biased and therefore causes the tamlis in Sri Lanka to revoly against them, resulting in the loss of many and the bloodshed of numbers unsightly. Racism is a growing custom in some minds. This kind of sick thinking would only increase the hate and the equality amongst peope. I wonder what makes others want to hate others due to their skin colours and their religion. Why would they even want to discriminate even if they have done nothing wrong to them.

Coven Chong Weng's curator insight, July 5, 2013 7:21 AM

From this article, i know that the Tamil Tigers and also the Sinhalese are always fight and many people had died in the process. I think that if only people would think in another way, all this things would have not happened. I wonder why there is racism in this world, it would be great if humans would not fight over their race as there will not so much war involving races .

Teoh Jun Fang's curator insight, July 5, 2013 10:13 AM

(See-Think-Wonder) From this article, I can see that the conflicts between the two races, Tamil and sinhala, is due to the difference in their language and culture. I think that it does not matter what race you are, as long as you live in the same country as the others, you are all together as one. Race is just a type of religion and everyone should learn to accept one another from different races and not dicriminate them. We should all show respect to their religion. Since the Tamil and Sinhala live in the same country, they should accept one another and not treat each other like enemies. I wonder if  there are no conflicts between the two races, how well-developed would Sri Lanka be now?

Five Mega Companies That Started in Garages (and Other Interesting Places)

Five Mega Companies That Started in Garages (and Other Interesting Places) | Possibilities,Conflict and Prejudice_ L.Vengaadesh | Scoop.it
Some of the world's biggest companies came from the most humble of beginnings. Here are five major corporations who've each starred in their own rags-to-riches story.

vengaadesh's insight:

From this article I can infer that even the most popular and well known companies can just start of from places such as a garage. Who would have thought that Nike or Blue Ribbon Sports had been started from a trunk of a car? Though there could be many obstacles and setbacks on their way to success, through hard work the companies managed to overcome them. This shows that with perseverance and hard work one can achieve the unthinkable. I wonder what kept the people going when they were faced with obstacles.

I can see that the biggest companies in the world can also originate from such humble beginnings. Each and every one of the people who made these companies put in a lot of hard work and effort to make their companies what they are today. Hard work does pay off. I think that there must be many setbacks while they built their companies. They must have overcame their setbacks with resilience. I wonder how these men accomplished what seemed to be an impossible thing to do.

Upon reading the article, I can see that not all successful companies had a smooth journey from the start. The few biggest corporation now like Google and Apple had many setbacks, but what makes the success today is the fact that they stood strong and overcame all the setbacks they faced. I think that behind their success is a lot of hard work and resilience that brings them to what they are today. I admires how these companies went through thick and thin in order to accomplish such achievements and wonder what is their motivation such that they did not give up.

From this article I can see that Singapore is ranked 3rd as a destination city by more than 107 million people of the global workforce in 2011 and it is the 7th most popular country to settle down and work in 2011. Singapore has one of the best economies in Asia. Hence it is a more preferable workforce compared to other countries. I think that we should appreciate that we have such a good economy. I wonder what we as Singaporeans can do to keep us the good work done by the people of Singapore today.

Poon Ying Ying's curator insight, July 2, 2013 8:14 AM

Using the See-Think-Wonder thinking routine after looking at the slideshare, I can see that Singapore used to ranked 7th most attractive country globally in 2011. But now we ranked 3rd as destination city, the most popular Asian city to work and live in. We have a powerful economy, therefore a preferable workforce.

I think Singapore strived hard to the state we are right now, having so many strong competitors like London and New York for their potential labour market and countries like Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for regional competitions, also competiting with Sydney and Dubai for industry because of their stong finance and ICT. I think we being Singaporeans should be thankful and appreciative for being so successful and safe to live in. We are not only a safe country but also clean and green. That is why we all should take an extra effort to maintain all this hard work and not bring it down.

I wonder if the other successful countries take the same actions as we do or do they have different strategies? How did Singapore manage to push through everything in our way to the top 3 ranking of destination city? What was all the considerations the government had to take? I wonder how Singapore's going to fare in the future, will we maintain, drop or climb higher? And how are we going to do that?

WeiJun's curator insight, July 2, 2013 10:40 AM

After browsing through the slideshare about Singapore, I learnt that Singapore stands in the 3rd place as a destination city by more than 107 million people of the global workforce in 2011. It stands as the 7th most popular country to settle down and work in 2011. Singapore have a strong economy and it is the working capital of Southeast Asia. I think that Singapore is one of the most successful and safest countries in the world which is the reason why many foreigners prefer to migrate over and settle down here. Despite being an extremely small country, Singapore rose over the years to become so renowned by everyone in the world at this point in time.

I think that Singapore has came a long way and also now being a very good country, we as Singaporeans should at least learn to appreciate everything we have now. I wonder what will the challenges that Singapore face next time .

vengaadesh's insight:

From this article I can see that no matter how we big or small we are; or what colour we are, we all humans. Why do people still want to differentiate themselves by our colour or by other means? I think people should respect others for who they are. People should not be discriminated in such manner. Who cares what if we are fat or skinnyor anything else? Who are they to judge us? I wonder why are there still these types of prejudice in the world today?

Charmaine Lau Li Fen's curator insight, July 13, 2014 9:09 AM

From this article, I learnt that everyone is that same. Evenif we are white, black gay, fat, emo, athiest. We are all human, therefore we shouldnt have prejudice against anyone.

Prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Therefore it is nowhere near factual. We should never ever judge a person without knowing the real truth. Negative Prejudice leads to conflict. Therefore we should stop Negative Prejudice as we are all human and equal.
