What Is Second Wave Positive Psychology and Why is it necessary? - Dr. Paul T. P. Wong

© Paul T. P. Wong The positive psychology (PP) movement, launched by Martin Seligman (1998), is the most significant phenomenon in contemporary psychology. Perhaps it is inevitable that its exponential growth has led to some excesses by its over-enthusiastic supporters and criticisms from its detractors. However, nothing has stopped PP’s growth; it continues to flourish and evolve in light of new theoretical formulations and research findings. The ‘second wave’ of PP (PP2.0) (Ivtzan, Lomas, Hefferon, & Worth, 2015; Wong, 2011) represents a maturing of PP that is more nuanced, balanced, and inclusive. It can be regarded as an inevitable or …

Hopes and Dreams: What the top-tier Positive Psychology Researchers wish for 2016

Hopes and Dreams: What the top-tier Positive Psychology Researchers wish for 2016 | positive psychology | Scoop.it
One day before New Year's Eve, I sent an e-mail to some of the foremost researchers and experts in Positive Psychology and adjacent. I asked them to answer one of the following questions. What do you hope for Positive Psychology in 2016? What are your expectations of Positive Psychology in 2016? What would be a…
Sandeep Gautam's insight:

As the question was put to PP researchers, the answers too are more or less focused around research; I would wish that more or equal focus was also on applications of +ve psychology  and at least some of the researchers who take a high -handed approach to practitioners (life- hacks bloggers, +ve education branding:-) etc) were more sympathetic to the actual challenges that practitioners face and appreciative of and inclusive of them when it came to viewing them as  an integral part of Positive psychology movement, and not as free-riders or  charlatans.
