Good insights - how many of these are we teaching?

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, January 26, 5:50 PM

My first reaction on reading the list of groups involved was negative. The University of Pheonix has a dog in this fight. They will want digital technologies to at the forefront. That is OK, but we need a balanced view of this emerging world and we need to question some of the views presented. We are not on the cusp of a relationship between humans and their digital tools. We have passed this cusp and each day we are in that emergent world. That kind of comment oversimplies a complex reality full of uncertainty.

Recherche très pertinente qui apporte un vent de fraîcheur.  On n'y parle pas des emplois du futur, mais plutôt des compétences ou habiletés requises

Martijn Spek's curator insight, April 24, 7:26 AM

EU will offer every young person employment or training within four months of leaving school

EU will offer every young person employment or training within four months of leaving school | Positive futures | Scoop.it

The European Commission has launched their latest Youth Employment Package requesting a guarantee from all Member States that every young person receives a quality offer of employment or training within four months of leaving school, or of being unemployed. The proposal will make full use of EU funding and in particular the European Social Fund (ESF), which was set up to reduce the differences in prosperity and living standards across EU Member States and regions.

The new Youth Employment Package is part of the initiative Rethinking Education - designed to reduce the youth unemployment rate. Research has shown that the figure is close to 23 % across the European Union, yet more than 2 million vacancies remain unfilled.

Goodbye Textbooks! Students Are Embracing the Move to Digital Learning [Infographic] | Positive futures | Scoop.it
Students can’t live without their devices, so schools should embrace the change.

Tablets are being adopted at an impressive rate, and tablet purchases are expected to outpace smartphone purchases over the next two years.
