Future work skills - 2020 [pdf]

David Hain's insight:

Good insights - how many of these are we teaching?

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, January 26, 5:50 PM

My first reaction on reading the list of groups involved was negative. The University of Pheonix has a dog in this fight. They will want digital technologies to at the forefront. That is OK, but we need a balanced view of this emerging world and we need to question some of the views presented. We are not on the cusp of a relationship between humans and their digital tools. We have passed this cusp and each day we are in that emergent world. That kind of comment oversimplies a complex reality full of uncertainty.

Recherche très pertinente qui apporte un vent de fraîcheur.  On n'y parle pas des emplois du futur, mais plutôt des compétences ou habiletés requises

Martijn Spek's curator insight, April 24, 7:26 AM

The Way We Think About Charity Is Dead Wrong | Dan Pallotta Video on TED.com

Activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta calls out the double standard that drives our broken relationship to charities. Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend -- not for what they get done.

Wow, what a great take on "the new philanthropy". People are yearning to do the MOST they can do, but they have to be asked. Charitable giving has been stuck at 2% of Gross Domestic Product.

"How can one sector grow without advertising?" Dan's discussion of "multiplier effects" is brilliant and right on. He moves the Key Performance Indicator for charity from the "demonic label" of overhead. "This is what happens when we confuse frugality with scale," simply brilliant talk.

Such an important idea, that we are asking the wrong questions in the wrong way, shared on this heartfelt TED video by Ted Pallotta.

BRAIN POWER: From Neurons to Networks

BRAIN POWER: From Neurons to Networks is a 10-minute film and accompanying TED Book (ted.com/tedbooks) from award-winning Director Tiffany Shlain and her team at The Moxie Institute. Based on new research on how to best nurture children's brains from Harvard University's Center on the Developing Child and University of Washington's I-LABS, the film explores the parallels between a child's brain development and the development of the global brain of Internet, offering insights into the best ways to shape both. Made through a new crowd-sourcing creativity process the Moxie team calls "Cloud Filmmaking," Brain Power was created by putting into action the very ideas that the film is exploring: the connections between neurons, networks, and people around the world.
