Taylor's 20 Year Old Port - a good friend to have at home

Taylor's 20 Year Old Port - a good friend to have at home | Wine and Port Wine Trends | Scoop.it

An aged tawny Port, such as a Taylor’s 20 Year Old, is an excellent Port to have at home for pouring by the glass in moments of relaxation, such as when reading a good book, watching a favourite television programme, or chilling out with friends.

The mellow smoothness and sumptuous opulent flavour of an age tawny Port make it the ultimate meditation or relaxation wine.

Diana Teixeira de Carvalho's insight:

A Port to read a book, to see a movie or to listen some music.
A Port that is a good friend! :)

Taylor’s LBV 2007 is the perfect finish to any meal. It does not need to be decanted and should be served in a generously proportioned wine glass so that its rich fruity nose can be enjoyed to the full.

Excellent with fully flavoured cheeses, especially blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. It is also delicious with desserts made with chocolate or berry fruits.

Diana Teixeira de Carvalho's insight:

"May just be the finest wine produced anywhere in the world in 2011". Actually not as deep purple as some. More deep crimson. Complex and wild nose, sort of biodynamic kind of profile. Jancis Robinson

Fonseca's Port - We Still do it like the Old Way

Fonseca's Port - We Still do it like the Old Way | Wine and Port Wine Trends | Scoop.it

From Fonseca's Port @ Facebook page! :)

You would be forgiven for thinking that this photo was taken a long time ago, but in fact it was taken just last week!

Here we can see Mr. Joaquim cutting the grass which grows between the rows of vines at our Santo António vineyard. The grass protects against erosion, but Mr. Joaquim needs to cut it back at this time of year so that it doesn’t compete with the growth of the vines and the traditional method of a horse-drawn cutter is still the best way of doing it.

Since the conversion of Santo António to organic viticulture in 2007, the vineyard is a showcase for the sustainable viticulture model developed by technical director David Guimaraens and head of viticulture António Magalhães.

Diana Teixeira de Carvalho's insight:

The Fonseca's Port vineyard is a showcase for the sustainable viticulture of port wine. What a good example! :)  You would be forgiven for thinking that this photo was taken a long time ago, but in fact it was taken just last week!

Taylor's Port - Google+

Taylor's Port - Google+ | Wine and Port Wine Trends | Scoop.it
Taylor's Port - Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor’s is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses. It is dedicated entirely to the production of Port wine and in particular to its finest styles.
Diana Teixeira de Carvalho's insight:

Port, being fortified and a wine of remarkable ageing potential and longevity, can remain in wood for much longer than most other wines.

This means that it can be aged in different ways and for different periods to produce a wide range of different styles.

O melhor vinho do mundo... vinho do Porto.

Diana Teixeira de Carvalho's insight:

Portwine it's a special and unique wine around the world, only produced in North of Portugal @ Douro's region. There are 3 tips of Portwine: the White, the Tawny and the Ruby one. The most expensive (most of the times) and the ex-libris id the Vintage one, the one that comes from Ruby category.
