monte da comenda

Agricultural exploration of reference in the region, with na área of 750 ha, today continued by a family member, has been following up the reconversion of agriculture in Alentejo, making a group of investments of worth in that sense. Thus, privy to the reconversion of a part of the dry plating grounds into water  planting grounds, reinforced the forest areas, privileging the corn oak – Quercus Suber – installed 30 ha of vineyard in extreme tiles and planted a modern olive grove also in about 30 ha.
The option for the vineyard culture resulted essencially of retaking an ancient activity of the agricultural house, as well as taking space advantage in the ancestral “hill”, made available through reduction of the cereal area, so that this reunites optimal conditions.

Quinta de Marrocos - Douro Region

Quinta de Marrocos - Douro Region | Portuguese Wine Producers | Scoop.it

The Quinta de Marrocos, one of the oldest in the Demarcated Region of the Douro, provides excellent views over the River Douro and contact with the marcos de feitoria, the solid granite pillars that were set up in 1757 to demarcate the region and which still stand there. At the beginning of the last century, the great grandfather of the current owner, César Sequeira, acquired the Quinta de Marrocos, where the house consisted of the old Franciscan Monastery. Since 1979, César Sequeira has continued in the wine growing business, culminating with the production/bottling/certification of estate wines. To this activity, he linked agro-tourism, restoring old family properties, which has made our places and wines known around the world. The quality of these wines has been recognised in International Competitions.
The couple’s daughter, Rita Sequeira, is an oenologist and is responsible for the property’s wine producing activities.Click here to edit the title

.::Herdade da Mingorra::. | Portuguese Wine Producers | Scoop.it

In the hot lands of Alentejo, a few kilometers away from Beja, there are vineyards with decades of history.
Henrique Uva has preserved some of these, which he has been developing and making profitable, as an independent producer.

In 2004, his dream has come true with the project named Henrique Uva / Herdade da Mingorra.
The wine cellar is properly fitted in 1.400 ha of a scenery that becomes exuberant in its diversity of flora and fauna, with several hydrological basins that look like authentic oasis. The cellar emerges as an authentic cult spot.
It is a place where modernity and functionality coexist in an indelible way with the most traditional techniques.

The result could only be the great quality and consistent wines, some of them innovative and with an excellent quality/price rate, as a consequence of a dynamic, enterprising and creative team led by the wine maker Pedro Hipólito.
The secret of this projects success is the excellence of the wine growing culture as well as the structural and human resources involved. The wines have received unanimous reviews regarding their quality and the sales, not only on a national basis but also in the foreign market, have been continuously improving. “That is why the future is faced with optimism, but also increased responsibility …“
