Promising tactile controler for anyone, Palette connects knobs, faders, and more as easily as LEGO. A look at its design - and the incubator behind it.

Joe Bruce's insight:

This is awesome.. I like the fact I can have an easy and fun controls for my music programs. The customization of the Palette is the best thing about it. The universality of it is a huge plus considering you would want to use it outside music programs. Using this to edit video would be great. Being able to customize the Palette for each program makes it desirable. The website was helpful and credible for such information.

Thanks to peter kirn ( http://createdigitalmusic.com) here a new " lego style" quickstarter to add knobs, buttons and faders to your set .i feel it's a bit expensive ( 99$ for 1 knob,1 button, 1fader..) and sadly you have to group all of them in one block , but can be a good configuration for some minimal uses

With the wireless pedalboards companion app, all of IK’s Mac and MIDI-compatible apps and software can be controlled by the board via Bluetooth 4.0 by wirelessly transmitting MIDI information. This means that it will work with any iOS device as well. The board can even transmit MIDI from its two external inputs for use with expression pedals or similar.

Joe Bruce's insight:

This web-site was credible. Being one of New York's biggest music sound and music community. This is great for portable recording if you use a pedalboard. This is portable but can be costly. It also connects via bluetooth and works a couple feet away. This is a great feature for traveling recording studios. It works with all softwares as well. It brings comfort and ease to traveling and recording.

It is really amazing to see all the awesome things you can do with MIDI. I never thought it would be possible to do something like this, but with this product, you can pretty much record and instrument anywhere. It uses the powers of bluetooth and an iPad app to do so. This can make on the go recording ever more accessible now.

Joe Bruce's insight:

Very interesting. I think there portable shields are great. Being a portable needs something like this. It is no substitute to a properly set up recording space that is caustically designed for recording. This brings that to any location. The site is a great New York sound and music site.

pros- This is light and portable. Has mic attachment so its easy to set up as well. It is cheaper than paneling every new place you record

cons- not as good at sound control as a aquatically balanced room. Can break if not treated with care. Can sometimes get in the way.

Audio interfaces and mixers: What's best for your home studio?
Joe Bruce's insight:

The website lets you know how to shop for the right interface. Knowing what to buy when it comes to interfaces is important. Especially when operating a portable studio. A USB plug in is ideal. Also there is no need for the large number of channels. Like the article says buy for what you need. Know the number of mice, monitors, etc.

Joe Bruce's insight:

These monitors seem to go the distance for the price. Affordable studio quality monitors are essential for a portable studio set up. The ROKIT 5-inch would be ideal for portability ease. Also has multiple audio inputs as well. The high frequency adjustment makes it customizable.

These KRK monitors are the third generation speakers from ROKIT. They come in three sizes, 5", 6" and 8". There is also multiple audio input connectors, XLR, 1/4" and RCA for universal connectivity to any studio environment.
Joseph Anthony Rivera's curator insight, January 16, 6:05 AM

Monitors probably play one of the most important roles when it comes to music producing. Here is an article based on KRK’s famous ROKIT monitors, it shows some improvement from the previous version to this new one and some features so you can get a good idea of what these guys can do in the studio. Plus they are really cheap for the quality that they perform. I could say this speakers are probably one of my top 3 choices when I get to build my own home studio.
