Using Great Storytelling To Grow Your Business | Fast Company [Excerpt:] Every two months, I pull together a community of innovators. We meet somewhere in New York City, usually a boardroom overlooking a park or cityscape. But last month we all found our way into an acting studio operated by The TAI Group to learn about storytelling. The members of this group certainly already know something about the topic. They are senior executives at some of the largest corporations, partners in some of the most prestigious consulting and private equity firms, and several cutting-edge entrepreneurs. But the more you know, the more you realize there is to learn, and this group wanted to learn more about how to use effective storytelling to drive change in and grow their organizations. The experience shocked me, to be honest. I considered myself an expert and snobbishly thought there was little more to learn. How wrong I was. Here are my two key takeaways from this session. Apply them today at your next meeting or phone call and I am willing to bet you will have a better result. Read more: http://www.fastcompany.com/1822792/using-great-storytelling-to-grow-your-business

5 Simple Tweaks for PechaKucha Presenters | by Tweak Your Slides blog [Excerpt:] This Friday, I attended PechaKucha Night Orlando Volume 5. If you are not already aware (and you are if you’ve heard me speak for more than five minutes or taken my class), I love PechaKucha! I look forward to the PechaKucha day in my class each month.......I couldn’t help but be slightly disappointed though, not by a lack of interesting ideas, but by the appearance of a few old school presentation design practices. Presenters used pixelated images, pre-made templates, bullets, and a bit more noise than signal at times. I believe the habits stem from slide anxiety...... Cloud storage saves us from email attachment prison! [Excerpt:] As presentations contain more images, file sizes are getting increasingly larger. Getting better and better | by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik [Excerpt:] The Durga statue worshipped during Dassera festival in Bengal, Orissa and Assam is made over a period of several weeks, starting soon after the chariot festival ends in Puri, Orissa. First a frame is made of bamboo that is covered with straw, then layered with clay, then covered with layers of paint. Finally.......Presentations made to sell an idea to customers need to be created like a Durga statue. Not all at once but slowly and systematically.
