Money will be spent on documentaries and live coverage of the results on TV, radio and online. By Jason Deans

Jim Arnott's insight:

Copied from my insight on the same article in Unionist Sheneigans.

Quote:

More money will simply mean even more BBC bias in it's coverage of the debate on independence for Scotland. I understand, and remain to be convinced otherwise, that BBC Scotland does not exist legally. I believe the correct legal entity is the BBC in Scotland - quite a subtle difference.

Why the BBC will not comply with a FOI request to name the guests they have had on their political programmes is intolerable. This refusal just makes people think they have something to hide. I was apoplectic earlier this week when a Scottish businesswoman supporting the Union was given about 5 times the exposure that the representative of Business for Scotland was given.

The day before this, the BBC in Scotland barely mentioned the bombshell revelations that the former Chancellor of the Exchequer Denis Healey made in an interview with the Holyrood Magazine - effectively saying the Westminster Government lied about the extent and value of North Sea Oil in order to defeat the rise of Scottish nationalism and so secure the oil revenues for an already impoverished Union. I believe from what I have read the extent of the BBC coverage of this and other major relvelations by Healey  was a mere 15 seconds. If the BBC would like to give chapter and verse of their coverage of this I would be pleased to study it - I am not holding my breath.

Surely something can be done to hold the BBC to account for its apparent bias against the case for independence for Scotland. All we want is balanced coverage of the debate.

This is truly infantile behaviour on the part of Gordon Matheson. The guy can't be very bright if he imagines it's OK to try to hijack someone else's PR effort. Petty politicking of the worst kind.
