"Internet Archaeology: Behold the Most Hilarious Abandoned Websites" | Underwire | Wired.com | Politics From My Point Of View | Scoop.it
There are still some corners of the web that look like they're stuck in 1999 -- and that's a good thing.
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

For every new website that goes up, there are some like these that get lost or forgotten – along with a sense of what online culture used to look like.

Montana U. S. Senator Max Baucus: "Repeal DOMA - Sign The Petition"

Montana U. S. Senator Max Baucus: "Repeal DOMA - Sign The Petition" | Politics From My Point Of View | Scoop.it

Dear Franklin,
The federal government shouldn't interfere in people's private lives. And it shouldn't legislate who can and cannot enter into a loving, committed relationship.
But that's exactly what it does right now. The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) denies federal benefits to same-sex couples, even if they're legally married in their own states.
It's not fair. And there's a growing movement to see DOMA overturned. For the first time, a majority of Senators are standing up for marriage equality. And I wanted to give you the opportunity to join us.
It's time to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act. Click here to add your name in support of marriage equality.
In Montana, we believe in personal freedom. We believe the government shouldn't interfere in the people's private business.
Overturning DOMA will give same-sex couples, married legally in their states, equal rights under federal law. Add your name.
Thank you for your support to help end marriage discrimination.

Truth-Out: "The President Offers to Cut Social Security and Republicans Agree" | Robert Reich Op-Ed | Politics From My Point Of View | Scoop.it
The President throws things on the table before the Republicans have even sat down for dinner.
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

Robert says, "The President’s predilection for negotiating with himself is not new. But his willingness to do it with Social Security, the government’s most popular program  — which Democrats have protected from Republican assaults for almost eighty years — doesn’t bode well. The President desperately wants a “grand bargain” on the deficit. Republicans know he does. Watch your wallets." ..... I agree! This is a dangerous game that the White House is playing with my and other senior's livelihood.  Don't rob us Mr. President!.....FDW

Senator Max Baucus: "Join the fight for paycheck fairness!" | Politics From My Point Of View | Scoop.it

Dear Franklin Delano,
It’s Equal Pay Day -- the day through which a woman would have had to work to earn the same pay a man did for the same work in 2012.
It’s not a day for celebration. It’s a day for action. Pay discrimination is outrageous. And it’s time we made this the last Equal Pay Day by securing paycheck fairness this year.
This Equal Pay Day, join me in the fight for paycheck fairness. Add your name today!
Women don't deserve to be short-changed. In Montana, women are paid on average only 73 cents on the dollar compared to men.
How many mortgage payments, medical bills, grocery runs and gas tanks is that taking away from Montana families?
Montana women shouldn't have to work an extra three months to earn the same as men. Period.
Celebrate Equal Pay Day by joining our grassroots movement to end wage discrimination. Add your name to mine right now.
Thank you.

I think new background checks would be helpful. I just dont want it to lead to bands on guns of anykind. I think we have the right to keep guns we just need away to keep certain people form getting them.

Truth-Out.org: "Cut Social Security and Veterans' Benefits? Cut the Pentagon Instead" | Politics From My Point Of View | Scoop.it
Just for example, cutting 11 percent of the F35 Joint Strike Fighter fleet would save as much money as President Obama proposes to save by whacking benefits for seniors, veterans and the disabled.
Franklin Delano Williams's insight:

GET RID OF PENTAGON WASTE: Just cutting Pentagon contracting by 7 percent and bringing the work in-house would save $16.5 billion year.  Consider the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Last year, Winslow Wheeler reported that the acquisition cost for the F-35 had risen to $379.4 billion for 2,457 aircraft. That's just the cost to buy the planes, not to fly and maintain them. According to Wheeler, "The current appraisal for operations and support is $1.1 trillion - making for a grand total of $1.5 trillion, or more than the annual GDP of Spain."
