Save our academic institutions

Due to financial uncertainties Punjab government has not been able to provide the require steps to save the Education system in the state. It is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that education institutions can't be shut down due to financial crisis.

School Education needs a paradigm shift

Jyoti Sharma's insight:

There are about 20 lakh school going children across Punjab with about 20,000 schools from primary to the senior secondary level due to this literacy rate in Punjab is about 76 % about two per cent above the national average of 74 %. Our educational system needs a paradigm shift at the basic level so that student s from the school level can be groomed, educated in a way that they have a degree one way or the other and become eligible for any job.

Punjab needs innovative ideas to make education job oriented – Must find ways to match employers with employees

Recently Punjab Education Minister Daljeet Cheema announced “industrial training” will be provided to students from class nine to twelve so that once they pass out, they are employable. But he does not spoke about how the government will guarantee the job where people holding PhD degrees applying for a constable’s job, it becomes difficult to believe that those trained in schools for various trades will get instant jobs.

Regulate micro-finance institutions before it’s too late

A lot of poor people have taken such loans and are paying through their nose the high rates of interests. in the letter written to the CM I have urged him to come up with a proper policy or law to regulate these micro-finance institutions then a number of poor people will lose their life’s savings and assets, which will drive them to extreme measures like suicide.

Un-necessary use of force against ETT teachers

Do human lives matter so little in this state?

Though Rs 6.4 crore was spent on improving the infrastructure and facilities in seven hospitals but the patients of Punjab are still deprived of blood during emergencies. The State Blood Transfusion Council did not adhere to the objectives of the national blood policy, according to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report for the period ending March 31, 2013.
