Unless Ted Cruz gets inaugurated in 2017, he will not be lying in Europe that he is a Canadian. On the contrary, the junior Texas Senator born in Calgary, Alberta, would be able to run for Commander-in-Chief because he is an American from mother, Eleanor's, American citizenship and because he never claimed Canadian citizenship (he was four when he moved back to Texas.) Cruz, who infamously is known for his anti Obamacare opinion that goes to such extremes as to want the government shutdown because it will defund the system, is a Tea Party favorite according to Poltico, but I concur with the trend of Latino voters: Rubio over Cruz. I am happy that the immigration rules would allow the American raised Senator to be President, but at this point in my spiel I will not predict the winner for 2016, sorry. I promise that if there is strong enough coverage by my last 2014 scoop.it I can make a well-educated prediction. Stay posted.

A solid question that has arisen because of this Canadian citizenship question is: Should a presidential candidate have to be born in the United States? On one side, they ponder the necessity that the leader has to be grown up in the culture. But, on the other side, why in the future forbid someone who might be perfect for the job? Sorry to burst that bubble, but why would a nation sacrfice a leader to the United States. I concur more with the former, but the latter poses the question in such a sense that maybe future Americans would be willing to change: Aliens 2020.

The only light I can make out of this story is Reagan liked Hussein’s mustache much more than George W. Bush. Recent CIA documents released brought to life chilling facts about Reagan’s effects on the 1980s conflict between Iraq and Iran. Infamously, Iraq used chemical weapons such as mustard gas and sarin against the Iranians. Reagan knew that the manufacturing of large supplies of mustard gas was occurring in 1983 and one of the  CIA documents stated that, “They almost certainly would use it against Iranian troops and towns near the border." To make the story even worse, in 1987 Reagan released Iranian troops positions to Hussein who then used the information to murder thousands of Iranians with sarin gas. Reportingly, Reagan wrote in the margin of Defense Intelligence Agency report that “An Iranian victory is unacceptable.”

I am not as familiar with late twentieth century American history although according to the College Board’s Advanced Placement exam I am “extremely well qualified” in United States History. In the context of the report, I feel ashamed that the Commander-in-Chief picked favorites, especially a favorite which indefinitely used chemical weapons that have been used in some of the world’s most chilling genocides. Reagan, who infamously sold cocaine to inner cities to fund Nicaragua's war and, also, supported an unrestricted capitalism which sent jobs overseas, now is seen as an even worse President in my eyes. Am I blue or red?
