Lois Lerner Emails: Nothing Digital Ever Dies

For RealClearPolitics, Carl M. Cannon writes: In 2007, while co-writing a magazine piece with Silicon Valley author and entrepreneur Michael S. Malone on best Information Age practices for politici...
Dave Cottrell's insight:

I was inspired to write this little ditty for Lois Lerner, sung to the tune of "Revolution," by the Beatles:

"Digital Solutions"

You say you wanna lose those emails
Well, you know
We all want to cover up
You tell me that it's your solution
Well, you know
We all want to save our butts

But when you talk about digital trails
Don't you know that you can't rub them out

Don't you know it's gonna be a bad night
A bad night, A bad night

You say you got away with the whole thing
Well, you know
We'd all like to let you know
You ask me for a war or something
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can

But if you want honey for people with minds that think
All I can tell you is sister you have to go

Don't you know it's gonna be a bad night
A bad night, A bad night

You say you'll trash the constitution
Well, you know
You've done a bang-up job
You tell me it's the GOP
Well, you know
You'd better find a decent place to hide

But if you go carrying pictures of Hillary
You ain't going to make it with anyone like me

Don't you know it's gonna be a bad night
A bad night, A bad night

A bad night, A bad night
A bad night, A bad night
A bad night, A bad night
Alright, alright

PETA Takes Heat over Claims it Killed 90% of Animals Dropped off at Virginia Shelter | TIME.com | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
Critics are slamming the organization for hypocrisy after a Virginia state report indicated a high rate of euthanasia at their shelter.

Why are people so surprised?  Like Greenpeace, PETA has become a huge, profit making, world wide corporation.

Obama blames ‘structural’ design of Congress for gridlock | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
President Obama is taking a swipe at the Founding Fathers, blaming his inability to move his agenda on the “disadvantage” of having each state represented equally in the Senate.
Dave Cottrell's insight:

Excuse me, Mr. President.  It is your constitution that has helped to make your country great.  You swore and oath to uphold and defend your constitution.   Now you want to trample on it?  And you wonder why there are problems in your country?

Restaurant with 'No Weapons, No Concealed Firearms' Sign Robbed at Gunpoint

Restaurant with 'No Weapons, No Concealed Firearms' Sign Robbed at Gunpoint | Politics and Business | Scoop.it

S"Stupid isA Durham, North Carolina restaurant with a sign on its front door reading, "No Weapons, No Concealed Firearms," was robbed at gunpoint on May 19.

Dave Cottrell's insight:

"Stupid is as stupid does..."  This was not even an issue until activists carrying big and to the uneducated, scary looking rifles entered the restaurant in a demonstration of their "right" to open carry.  As far as I can tell, the restaurant had no weapons policy before this demonstration of stupidity.  I support the right to bear arms, but not there IS no right to displays of stupidity that scare people.  This was brought on, in my opinion, by IRresponsible gun owners who just set back the rights of fellow respectable, and respectful gun owners in their community by light years.

Russia bans profanity - why don't we? | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
Can we ban profanity? If Russia can, surely we can as well. The free-speech plank of the First Amendment was intended by the Founding Fathers to protect political speech - not profanity, vulgarity, obscenity or pornography.
Dave Cottrell's insight:

Interesting question.  If Russia can rely on their language, why can't we simply rely on ours?

Rick Perry Hopes Combination of Wearing Glasses and Not Talking Will Make Him Seem Smarter

Rick Perry Hopes Combination of Wearing Glasses and Not Talking Will Make Him Seem Smarter | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
“After the 2012 Republican primary, we knew that we needed to solve what we called the Governor’s smartness problem.”
Dave Cottrell's insight:

Liberal politicians have known this for years:  When common sense requires hard decisions, obfuscate, rather than make decisions, never make a clear statement about anything, just in case it's not the most popular thing to say, and when all else fails, try to look good and keep quiet.  Sometimes saying "fuddle duddle" works, too...

BLM Siege At Bunkerville - The Real Story

BLM Siege At Bunkerville - The Real Story | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
Senator Harry Reid rides to the rescue, BLM Siege At Bunkerville - The Real Story, Land, BLM auction, Harry, Rory, Lief Reid, Chinese, racism, cattle, first Amendment areas, No Fly Zones
Dave Cottrell's insight:

Pretty hard to put it much better than this:

"Cliven Bundy’s careless remarks should never have become the main topic of this story any more than Senator Reid’s careless “Light skinned with no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one” remark about Barack Obama that was underplayed during the 2008 Presidential campaign, or then-Delaware Senator Joseph Biden’s careless (Obama is the) “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy” remark in 2007 that was never criticized by the same media commentators who are now attacking Bundy for making equally careless racial remarks. (All three apologized after learning they offended people.)

A Senate Majority Leader and a Vice President were never called “hateful racist” fortheir remarks!  Why is a similar remark from a nobody rancher now making headlines? Maybe to distract from the real story - the BLM being used as a pawn in a land and water rights grab to benefit politically connected developers.

For the time being, the real story of the BLM siege at Bunkerville is lost in a haze of inciteful rhetoric. It’s time to get back on point before the BLM returns to complete their ominous orders."

Dave Cottrell's insight:

"There have been some locales in Georgia that have tried nearly mandating gun ownership for homeowners. Kennesaw is one of them. The same thing was predicted then, that a bloodbath would ensue. What actually happened? Well, today, it’s one of the safest places to be in the state. Perhaps even the country."

Dave Cottrell's insight:

An interesting opinion piece and one scary scenario... but one that is not so very far from the realm of possibility.  All sides in this situation have entered into a situation that is almost impossible to back out of.  The US and its allies may have forced the Russian hand.  However, the Russian choices are also putting impossible pressure on the US and its allies.  The messy mixture that presently, although tenuously, wields the reigns of power in Ukraine are not making the situation any better.  Europe needs Russian gas, yet does not want to be under the Russian heel.  Russia can and will shut off the gas if pushed (gas to Ukraine has been shut off in the past, and it is about to be shut off again, if Ukraine cannot raise the money to pay their gas bill).  In the eastern Ukraine is all the gas they need to throw off all dependency on Russian gas and a serious challenge to Russia's monopoly on gas sales to Europe, yet Ukraine may never get the chance to develop it if Russia annexes eastern Ukraine.  Add to the whole mixture the desperately terrible world wide economic situation, a massive, massive global bubble that is one the verge of bursting, and war seems almost inevitable...

Dave Cottrell's insight:

The truth is that in both Canada and the USA, freedom of religion is guaranteed.  This battle against Christianity is being waged under the mantle of Freedom of Speech, yet more and more, freedom of speech is only allowed if the right people (the hard left) are using it.  Orwell's prophetic words from Animal Farm, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others," are most certainly coming to pass in this postmodern and utterly confused world.

US threatens to cut $10 million aid to Thailand (not a joke) | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
Michael Yon Online Magazine dispatches from the Frontline of Iraq and Afghanistan
Dave Cottrell's insight:

I wonder if the average American citizen realizes just how stupid and how massive a failure American foreign policy is at this time.  More than every before in history, DESPITE what many Americans think of the Bush years, the US is completely alienating itself against the rank-and-file citizens of other sovereign nations.  WAKE UP, AMERICA!  It's time for lawmakers in Washington to pay WAY more attention to what their representatives and the CIA are doing in other countries.

"Our CIA is clueless. Our Department of State is clueless. Our Ambassador sided with a criminal regime, and behaves like a bimbo whose calling was Hollywood.

But do not take my word for it. Web search for Kristie Kenney Twitter, and Kristie Kenney Instagram, and go to YouTube and web search for US Embassy Thailand videos. You will be appalled at how we are being represented, and how condescending our government is to Thailand."  - Michael Yon -

Clinton: Israel Offered the Temple Mount to the PA

Clinton: Israel Offered the Temple Mount to the PA | Politics and Business | Scoop.it
Dave Cottrell's insight:

The fact is and always has been that the Palestinian Arabs will accept nothing less than the complete removal of Israel from existence.  This is how it is, today, and this is how it has been since the idea of turning the unorganized no man's land known as the British Mandate  (otherwise known, since the Romans renamed more than two thousand years ago, as Palestine) into two separate countries, one Arab and one Jewish, which was accepted by the Jews and rejected by the Arabs, in 1948.  The name, Palestine, was given to the region by the Romans as an insult to the Jews when they conquered the land.  The name meant, "Land of the Philistines."  The actual land of the Philistines, once known as Philistia, was the narrow piece of land along the Mediterranean that is today known as the Gaza Strip.  It was NEVER an Arab country.

The headline reads, "RAF Jet Chases Russian Planes Away from UK"  Are we to believe that Russia wants war with the rest of the world?   Is the west determined to push Russia into a corner with no way out but war?  Could this be the puppet masters' plan to deal with the economic meltdown in Europe and the multi-trillion dollar US debt?  Already, we KNOW there has been some kind of false flag scenario played out for the gullible masses in eastern Ukraine in the form of the flyers that were supposedly sent out by Russian backed rebels telling Jews to register.  Mr. Putin has ALREADY come out in strong support of the Jewish minority in Ukraine, ALREADY warning about the anti-semites in Ukraine, and we ALREADY know the Banderas, the ultra nationalists the Ukraine Prime Minister is associated with, are historically violently anti-semite.
