Dear Mainstream Media: NEVER Post a Name, Image, and Facebook Profile Until You Know It’s Real | Soshable | Social Media Blog | Politics and Business | Scoop.it

It is criminally negligent, unethical and downright mean when any kind of media publishes false information that damages an innocent person's reputation.  Sadly, this is becoming all too common, and worse, so-called whistleblowers are now targeting their victems behind false personas and pseudonyms, not even letting them face their accusers...

"You have a responsibility regardless of your traffic to be sure that what you post will not do harm to those who do not deserve it. " The sad reality to this sentence is that people have the perception that to hurt people is perfectly acceptable and there are those people who feel that any means justify the ends if their goal is to cause destruction and chaos. It has only been in the last few months that people are now understanding the harm that can be caused and many on the web are working on finding solutions to these kinds of behaviors.
Dave Cottrell's comment, December 29, 2012 6:14 PM
How true this is. But not only is this criminal practice not slowing down, it is actually accelerating. IMO, we will eventually see something done on an international level, which is very unfortunate, because it chips away at national autonomy... but when people hide behind their local freedom of speech laws to make false or unproven statements that harm people in other countries, something has to change.
Diane Bjorling's comment, December 29, 2012 6:48 PM
I feel that the issue of saying whatever you want with impunity is slowly coming to an end online. I think people are realizing that the web has been a bit like the Wild West with few or conflicting forms of justice and that something needs to be done to stop the bullying or other nasty things going on. What works offline is not the same as online, because of the various countries being involved, the various laws involved and the different ways people interpret the law. I do not have answers, but I will agree with you that something has to change and it has to change soon!

The Decline of Small Business Is a Five-Alarm Fire Leaders Are Ignoring

Please don’t tell me that the American economy is moving in the right direction, however slowly, which I hear from politicians and commentators all the time. It isn’t. Not even close.Key
Dave Cottrell's insight:

"The reason the U.S. economy is stalled like this, in my view, is that our elected officials, from the president, to Congress, to governors and mayors, are focused on the wrong things. They’re concerned about government spending on infrastructure, schools, police, firemen, and the military -- on government jobs and projects of all types. They’re fixated on pensions and benefits -- on how to spend money, not how to create wealth."
