Shelly Reckow VanVoorst's curator insight, October 25, 2015 11:42 AM

I scooped this article because it provides research information on the literacy gains that students make because of blogging in the classroom.  The article also includes some basic ways to incorporate blogging into the classroom, but other articles probably do a better job of offering advice in that area.  My hope is that teachers will read through this article and understand that research supports the idea of students increasing their literacy skills through the use of digital blogging.  Perhaps understanding that will be enough encouragement for one of them to try it out in their own classroom.

Jamie Dammann's curator insight, October 25, 2015 8:33 PM

Technology: I chose this resource because as an English program coordinator I am asked all the time about reading comprehension and how to help students. I think that this takes journaling to the next level and I will share this with schools that are struggling with reading comprehension issues.

Self-awareness is once again key. There are many things to be aware of as a leader, but one's self is the best place to start.

donhornsby's curator insight, October 16, 2015 9:33 AM

(From the article): It’s not impossible for leaders who have been pulled to the dark side to return to the light. Just as people change for the worse, we can change for the better – as long as the desire is there.

JASON CAVNESS's curator insight, October 17, 2015 1:45 PM

This is one reason why it is important to surround yourself with people who are not afraid to tell you when you are doing something that is not right.

Michelle Cubas's curator insight, September 24, 2015 4:45 PM

A key coaching element is to remain curious when working with clients. This is a tip for leaders who want to remain present as well. Rather than preparing a thought to make a comment, being curious about others is a tremendous fact-finding tool. Use this while networking also—It puts the emphasis on the other person & reduces personal anxiety. Go for it!

Cécile Lemoine's curator insight, October 3, 2015 3:31 AM

Cela a toujours été vrai, mais le défi de la curiosité est plus grand aujourd'hui avec un accès à une telle multitude de domaines... Une compétence clé est aussi la vision systémique pour faire des liens inédits entre des domaines différents.
