How to Answer the Question "What Was Your Last Salary?"

How to Answer the Question "What Was Your Last Salary?" | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it
When I was a kid working at Burger King, the minimum wage was $2.75 an hour. I didn't last long at that job. I got fired for calling in sick to go see the rock band Boston play at Madison Square
Olgy Gary's insight:

Excellent, EXCELLENT article! I loved how Ivo (the job seeker) answered Carol (a company recruiter) when Carol asked him how much he was earning at his current job! LOL. Loved the clear manner in which the article rightly describes plumbers and other tradespeople as being "way ahead of the suit-and-tie-crowd when it comes to saying what they think...they don't fawn and grovel the way job-seekers have been taught to do..."

That question is always on the line every job interview. And hard to answer as well. Tell me, what would be the best answer for that question?

Mr. President, on behalf of an ungrateful nation, thank you

Mr. President, on behalf of an ungrateful nation, thank you | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it
I’ve never written a column like this.  Readers rarely believe it, but I am not on any political team.  Generosity toward the high and mighty isn’t among my few virtues.  But this needs to be said: Americans are lucky to have Barack Obama as president and we should wake up and appreciate it while we can.

I, Racist

I, Racist | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it
Here's the thing that all the "angry Black people know", and no "calmly debating White people" want to admit: The entire discussion of race in America centers around the protection of White feelings.
Olgy Gary's insight:

This is such an excellent read. So many sections are worth highlighting, thinking through, talking over. I highly recommend it. Only by understanding the actual situation in our country with regards to racism can we hope to address it and change the status quo.
