Financial reform fell far short of what should have happened, but it's much more effective than you'd think. Ridley Scott’s Explanation For Whitewashing His Exodus Movie Is Infuriating

Ridley Scott’s Explanation For Whitewashing His Exodus Movie Is Infuriating | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it
Ridley Scott’s Exodus movie is still racist. And his explanation only made things worse.
Olgy Gary's insight:

Yeah... makes no sense to whitewash a movie the way Scott has done with "Exodus, Gods and Kings." Regardless of how good-looking Christian Bale or Joel Edgerton are, they do not look middle eastern..nor do I for one minute believe Bale or Edgerton looked anything like Moses or Ramses II. Worse yet is to find out that all the main characters in the movie are White, while the servants and thieves are Black.

Statement by NHCLC President Dr. Samuel Rodriguez Regarding President’s Executive Action on Immigration

Statement by NHCLC President Dr. Samuel Rodriguez Regarding President’s Executive Action on Immigration | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it

"The President’s forthcoming executive action, although not the preferable delivery mechanism, initiates a reconciliatory prescription necessary in addressing a defacto humanitarian crisis within our borders: millions of God’s children created in his image living in the shadows. This merciful action takes place because for years our government, under the leadership of both parties, failed miserably as it pertains to immigration. For years, our elected officials sacrificed lives on the altar of political..."

Triumph of the Wrong | Paul Krugman

Triumph of the Wrong | Paul Krugman | Current Events, Political & This & That | Scoop.it
From Day 1 of the Obama administration, Mr. McConnell and his colleagues have done everything they could to undermine effective policy, in particular blocking every effort to do the obvious thing — boost infrastructure spending — in a time of low interest rates and high unemployment.

This was, it turned out, bad for America but good for Republicans. Most voters don’t know much about policy details, nor do they understand the legislative process. So all they saw was that the man in the White House wasn’t delivering prosperity — and they punished his party.
