U.S. flight ban could be Hamas' biggest success in latest clash with Israel | WashingtonExaminer.com

U.S. flight ban could be Hamas' biggest success in latest clash with Israel | WashingtonExaminer.com | Political Consulting . . . all things political | Scoop.it
The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday barred U.S. airliners from traveling to and from Israel for at least 24 hours, in the wake of now-confirmed reports saying a rocket landed near Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport, the country's only international airport.
Several airlines already had suspended operations or diverted flights.
The ban comes less than a week after a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was shot down over Ukraine. For Hamas, it could be the biggest break the Islamist group has had since the most recent fighting started -- potentially increasing Israeli's physical and psychological isolation from the rest of the world. The airport handles about 14 million travelers a year.

LOS ANGELES — The rumblings are early but unmistakable: A political earthquake is — finally — headed to California. Intelligence Officials Present Evidence for How Malaysian Flight MH17 Was Shot Down

Intelligence Officials Present Evidence for How Malaysian Flight MH17 Was Shot Down | Political Consulting . . . all things political | Scoop.it
Senior U.S. intelligence officials presented evidence today that they say makes a “solid case” as to why the U.S. believes a Russian made SA-11 missile fired from separatist-held eastern Ukraine shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 last week. While the leading theory is that Russian separatists brought down the plane, the U.S. intelligence community still cannot determine who pulled the trigger or why. The officials pointed the finger at Russia for having “created the conditions” behind the shoot-down and labeled as “not plausible” new Russian claims that the plane may have been brought down by a Ukrainian fighter jet.  …

‘We Shot Down MH17,’ Says Pro-Russian Soldier

A pro-Russian militant has admitted his unit shot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, Italian Newspaper Corriere della Sera has reported. The interview confirms pro-Russian forces mistook the passenger plane for a military one and were told to prepare to engage pro-Ukraine soldiers on the ground.

“‘We’ve just shot down one of the Kiev Fascists’ planes’, they told us, warning us to take care because at least some of the crew had reportedly baled out,” the source told Corriere della Sera, at the Torez railway station, at which the bodies of the plane crash victims were held before departing for Khakiv, Ukraine.

Ken Feltman's insight:

There will be many more articles like this, some accurate, many fabricated. This will make getting to the whole truth nearly impossible.

Remember this poll? "Kingston leads Perdue as runoff nears" | Political Consulting . . . all things political | Scoop.it
Jack Kingston holds an edge over David Perdue just days before the Republican primary runoff, but both men trail their potential Democratic opponent, according to a new Channel 2 Action News poll.
Ken Feltman's insight:

This is the same polling firm that shows David Perdue trailing Democrat Michelle Nunn in the November election.

Remember the Eric Cantor polling in Virginia? Pollsters seem to be having a difficult time predicting the turnout figures in elections with Tea Party and/or Super PAC influence.

We need to keep that in mind as we head to November.

Why The Russians Are Panicking Over Flight 17

Why The Russians Are Panicking Over Flight 17 | Political Consulting . . . all things political | Scoop.it

Suddenly, an act of terrorism becomes an act of interstate war, directed with subterfuge and deniability, with the goal of dismembering the Ukrainian state.

The one emotion most of us who study Russia never associate with the men of the Kremlin is panic. They’re not the type. They’re more like mobsters, prone to say “we have a problem” rather than to freak out. They think everything has a solution, although sometimes that solution might mean someone has to take nine grams of lead behind the ear. They do not raise their voices—my experience is that most Russian tough-guys are mumblers, not yellers—and they get things done, even if the final outcome might lack a certain, say, elegance.
