Ken Feltman's insight:

An elderly black woman stood for hours in the hot sun and the long line, moving slowly, waiting to vote. A white man approached with a camera and crew. He was from a station that still supported apartheid. Spotting the old women, obviously uncomfortable in the oppressive heat, he thrust a microphone into her face and demanded to know what she would gain by sweating for hours in the blazing sun.

 

She answered in a sure voice: "My dignity."

78% Favor Proof of Citizenship Before Being Allowed to Vote

A federal judge last week upheld the right of states to require proof of citizenship before allowing someone to register to vote. Voters continue to overwhelmingly support such a requirement.

 

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 78% of Likely U.S. Voters believe everyone should be required to prove his or her citizenship before being allowed to register to vote.

Many of the people commenting on this "irregularity" suggest returning to paper ballots. Maybe that's not such a good idea. Remember, Chicago's Democratic machine invented the "chain ballot."
