Barrett Baughn's curator insight, May 27, 8:12 AM

This article talks about a small town in Jackson, Minnesota where an agricultural companyy has vertically integrated into their society. This company does provide jobs however it is limiting the amount of growth and health in the area. Instead of having something like organic farms these companies and taking over rural areas across the nation because it's cheap and effective.

This is apart of our agriculture unit. It is also a prime example of vertical integration where companies start to take over the entire industry of agriculture. So instead of different parties growing, packaging, distributing, etc. it is all done by one company.

Barrett Baughn's curator insight, May 27, 8:19 AM

This article talks about how people are confused about which nationality they belong to. How is this you may ask? Well after WWII many people that went into hiding in the areas of Austria, upper Italy, and Germany they were confused where to go after the war. This as lead to a small amount of political instability because it's not good for anyone to not know what a person's nationality is.

This can be put as population, culture and political units because it is talking about people's culture and where they are located and how they have migrated but also that political instability of the loss of people's nations.
