SURREY'S Police and Crime Commissioner, Kevin Hurley, has called for more forces to be merged to battle job cuts and reductions in services.
Mr Hurley made the call following the publication of the Home Affairs Committee report on Architecture of Policing, saying it was an "unforgivable misuse of public money" to have 43 different police forces, each with their own HQ, chief officer teams and crime commissioners.
Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner is to distribute nearly £5 million of national funding to support victims of sexual abuse. Stephen Bett will oversee two new funds established by the Home Office to support victims of child and sexual abuse across England and Wales. Both funds are open for bids. Nottinghamshire's chief Chris Eyre told the Nottingham Post private firms could pay for sponsorship or adverts to help counter budget cuts. His remarks were made as the police and crime commissioner Paddy Tipping announced £12.7m was needed to balance the county's budget. However, Mr Tipping said he was "sceptical" about vehicle advertising.
