The World Poker Tour that revolutionized poker on television is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a return to the Bellagio for the final events ...


The last two stops on the tour also are the biggest: a $100,000 buy-in for the WPT World Championship super high-roller event May 23-25 and the $25,000 buy-in world championship’s Final Table on May 26.


Both events will be filmed for television to air Sept. 16 through Oct. 25. My pal, commentator Vince Van Patten, talks about the 10-year-run and how poker became big-time television in a video posted on YouTube.

Morten Christensen topped a field of 396 to take down the €3,500 ($4,560) World Poker Tour Vienna main event for a nice payday of $410,519 after qualifying online in a €300 satellite.


The 27-year-old, who has been playing online for nine years and turned pro two years ago, beat Konstantin Tolokno heads up for the largest portion of the $1,651,053 prize pool, adding his name to the list of Danish players who have been causing a ruckus on the major European circuit of late


Tolokno walked away with $251,166 for second place after he made his final stand moving all in over Christensen’s raise of 250,000. Christensen called and flipped over A 8 while Tolokno showed K 8. The board fell A Q 9 7 2 and Morten Christensen took the title, the top prize, and entry into the $25,000 WPT World Championship, which will take place at Bellagio, Las Vegas from May 19 to 26.
