Manitoba Lotteries Launches Poker Open Tournament | Tight Poker

Manitoba Lotteries, one of the Canada’s biggest gaming companies recently partnered with British Columbia Lotteries Corporation, which makes it a strong force to be reckoned with. If you are wondering what a lottery company has to do with poker, it is because Manitoba Lotteries has decided to launch a poker tournament that will in all likelihood be the largest poker event held in Manitoba.

The poker tourney has been scheduled to take place from April 11th to April 15th and will be held at the McPhillips Station Casino in Manitoba. As per the expectations for the event, the Manitoba Poker Open Tournament will feature a prize poker pot of almost half a million USD. There will be as much as $600,000 worth of prizes circulating as cash prizes.

The Manitoba Poker Open Tournament was also hosted once before and this will be the second poker tourney to take place. It is expected that a 1000 players will participate.

Vice President Dan Sanscartier, from Manitoba’s Gaming Operations commented on the upcoming event. “Players can expect the Manitoba Lotteries Poker Open to build upon the successes of last spring’s tournament and go well beyond. We reviewed the player feedback from 2011 and made sure that this year’s event will continue to excite our poker players – whether they are new or returning challengers,” he said.

The Manitoba Poker Open Tournament has structured poker blinds and will feature as much as $15,000 worth of poker chips; it will also have 45 minute and 60 minute blinds. The first two days will feature single blinds but the third day which will host the main event and final table game will have two.

The Manitoba Poker Open Tournament will host poker events that have $550 buy-ins and even a last $1,000 buy-in; the winners of these poker tourneys will also be rewarded entry tickets to other poker tournaments like the Winnipeg Sun No Limit Texas Hold’em Tournament giving them the opportunity to increase their bankroll.

The Manitoba Poker Open Tournament will feature mostly Texas hold ‘em poker games in the no limit category. There are 1000 seats only to this event and it is expected that the cash prizes could even go as high as $500,000 if all the seats are taken.

Ken Hunter, who won the previous Manitoba Poker Open Tournament, commented on the upcoming event, “It was a feather in the cap of the guys who run tournaments in Manitoba. The local dealers are top-notch. They make it a good time.”
