The regulators from four European countries convened in Barcelona recently for a two-day meet to discuss regulatory co-operation. As part of a general discussion on information sharing, the regulators discussed the possibility of shared liquidity in online poker.

 

The meeting took place June 19-June 20 between the Italy’s AAMS, France’s ARJEL, Spain’s DGOJ and the Portuguese Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa (SCML), a charitable institution that operates the Portugal National Lottery.

In addition to events surrounding the European Commission Green Paper, this year has already seen Denmark open its online gambling market with the German state of Schleswig-Holstein move in a similar direction with the recent awarding of licences, while the remaining German states are seeking to implement an alternate licensing system. Spain at the federal level and also at the autonomous community level is also moving online. Moreover, Greece, Ireland, Cyprus and Portugal are all in the process of changing their current regulatory models.
