PartyPoker's FastForward Falling Short of PokerStars' Zoom Poker

PartyPoker's FastForward Falling Short of PokerStars' Zoom Poker | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

In recent days, PartyPoker's network, which includes sites like WPT Poker, rolled out FastForward, a fast-play option that's similar to Zoom Poker on PokerStars and Rush Poker on the old Full Tilt. According to PartyPoker's website, "You don't even have to wait for the action to hit you; if you don't want to play a hand, just hit the 'Forward Fold' button and you'll instantly be dealt into a new hand. Players at your table won't even know you have folded until it's your turn to act."

According to a recent update from PokerScout, which tracks cash game volume across the major online poker sites, FastForward's popularity has fallen well short of Zoom Poker. PokerScout officials explained the sizable discrepancy: "Although the data is preliminary, FastForward has thus far failed to attract players to the same extent as Zoom Poker on PokerStars. At PartyPoker, 8% to 9% of real money ring game players are in fast-fold games. In contrast, PokerStars had some 25% of players in fast-fold games after the launch in March."

In a March update from PokerScout shortly after Zoom Poker was unveiled, real money ring game traffic on PartyPoker, iPoker, Ongame, and Microgaming all sank by 5%. Where did the players go? PokerStars, of course, which saw its cash game traffic tick up 3% likely due to Zoom Poker.

Unique to Party Poker is the option to play heads-up FastForward, which is quite possibly the fastest poker game on earth.

Full Tilt Poker was originally the first site to the market with its Rush Poker in 2010 but now most major sites offer the variant including Zoom Poker on PokerStars and Speed Poker on Titan Poker.

Playtech proves 80-20 rule ahead of iPoker split, Stephen Carter CasinoChoice

Playtech’s announcement it generated 79% of its revenues from its 15 most valuable clients in the first half of 2012, up from 72% a year earlier, coincides with the imminent segregation of operators’ players on its iPoker network into two groups based on a network performance scoring mechanism. Top-tier Playtech client Paddy Power yesterday welcomed the new policy, scheduled to come into force this month, commenting that it “should offer a better playing experience for our customers.” Playtech’s poker revenues were down 9% to €9.7m in the six months to 30 June.

Playtech credited the increased concentration of its business among its 15 largest licensees to “acquisitions and an overlap between customers of the acquired businesses and existing licensees.”

In an unexpected move, PartyPoker eliminated all of its cash game offerings above 5/10 no limit and pot limit games, and above 30/60 in fixed limit games.

Declining iPoker network hopes to get Everest and Betfair, Pokerfuse

Declining iPoker network hopes to get Everest and Betfair, Pokerfuse | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

Playtech’s impressive first-half financial results released today were marred only by the continued poor performance of its poker platform, iPoker. The group is looking toward both new licensees and a real-money mobile platform to boost its ailing network.

Poker understandably received slim attention in an otherwise glowing half-annual report:

The international poker market remained challenging for the first six months of the year, causing poker revenue to fall by 9% to €9.7 million. The iPoker network maintained its position as the leading independent poker network in the dotcom market place, and we are currently in discussions with a number of significant new licensees who wish to join the network.

Revealed on pokerfuse last week, one major new licensee in talks with Playtech is is Everest Poker, which plans to shut its independent poker room and join the network. Although considered a micro-network, it would bring a possible 20% boost to player numbers on iPoker. It operates a larger French network, which would completely reinvigorate Playtech’s presence in France. Rumored to be in talks with joining the network is Betfair, which currently operates on the Ongame network but is reportedly looking for a new home.

Everest Poker joining iPoker Network, Dan Katz at PokerNewsDaily

Everest Poker joining iPoker Network, Dan Katz at PokerNewsDaily | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

The long-independent Everest Poker has decided to join up with iPoker.

According to PokerScout.com, EverestPoker.com is the 23rd largest online poker competitor in the industry, with a seven day average of 570 cash game players. Its French site, EverestPoker.fr, is actually doing better, sitting in 15th with a seven day average of 650 cash game players.

This comes just days before the iPoker Network is to split into two. In an attempt to get its member poker rooms to attract profitable customers, the network will move a select few of its skins to form an upper tier, or “iPoker 2,” while the rest will have to remain on the old network and hope to meet the requirements for inclusion. Those requirements: have a minimum of 6,000 active players per month as well as add least 850 new players per month, each of whom must contribute at least $5 in rake or tournament fees. Other factors, such as deposit to cashout ratios, will also be evaluated.

iPoker follows Ongame and creates a second premium network, Jamie Nevin PokerUpdates

iPoker has decided to extend the network policy to include specific quality standards. Failing to meet any of these standards will cause a separation of the card room from the network main liquidity pool.

Performance criteria:

- Minimum volume of 6,000 active real money players.

- A real money player is defined as one that generates more than $1 in rake.

- Required to inject 850 monthly new active real money players.

- Financial penalties for Win/Loss and Shark/Fish ratio.
