Amaya – GSOP live becomes The GRAND live | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

MONTREAL, Canada – April 17, 2013 – Amaya Gaming Group Inc. (TSXV: AYA) today announced that Ongame’s popular live poker tour The Grand Series of Poker live, or GSOP live will be rebranded to The GRAND live at the start of its fourth season in September. The rebranding will not affect the tour’s concept and player value proposition: exclusive locations, first class service and affordable buy-ins.

This is the third season of Ongame’s live tour and the fourth and final event starts today at the Marbella Casino in Spain. The event is completely sold out with 400 participants.

“Our poker players love The GRAND live,” said Fredrik Lindberg, Poker Event Manager at Betsson. “It offers players a truly premium experience including first class hotel and casino for an affordable buy-in. The live tour is primarily geared towards online poker players at some of the 25 partners within the Ongame Poker network, but the quality of the event now attracts poker players from all major operators.

Season 4 of Ongame’s live tour is still in development, and its destinations will be announced within a few weeks. More information about The GRAND live will be available at www.TheGRANDlive.com. Information about the current season 3 of the tour can be found on www.GSOPlive.com.

Amaya develops Instant Rewards tool for online gaming operators
Real time achievement tool increases poker player activity and revenues for Paf

MONTREAL, Canada – February 4, 2013 – Amaya Gaming Group Inc. (TSXV: AYA) today announced the first evaluation of its Instant Rewards tool showed an increase of over 30% in both player activity and revenues generated from poker players using Instant Rewards at Paf.com.

Instant Rewards is a new achievement engine enabling online gaming operators to set up a number of different challenges for players and pay out related prizes in real time. In poker, for instance, the challenge could be anything from winning a hand with two Aces to collecting a certain combination of cards. Each Instant Reward has its own progress bar that shows clearly how close players are to achieving the prize. The player gets notified directly at the table about his or her progress and as soon as he or she has completed the challenge. The prize, which could be cash or tournament tickets, is made available immediately for players.

“Instant Rewards might be one of the most innovative poker features I have ever seen,” said Herbert Paradis, Poker Manager at Paf. “After a two-month trial we have measured an increase in both time spent by and revenue generated from players using Instant Rewards. Poker players love challenges and this product is well suited to incentivize recreational players. It gives ordinary players an experience of competence and creates a feeling of mastery when they complete the challenge at hand. Ongame is helping us to bring back the fun in poker.”

“The thrill of poker comes from the tension of tough challenges and the joy of winning,” said Fredrik Kjell, Head of Poker for Ongame Network Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Amaya. “Instant Rewards highlights those many achievements you do every day as a poker player and provides recognition to players beyond monetary values. The majority of poker players do not make any money; they play because they love the game of poker. Their goal is entertainment, fulfillment and the sense of mastery of the game. Our analysis shows Instant Rewards can not only increase player satisfaction, but also increase revenues for operators.”

Instant Rewards is built into the Ongame Poker product and requires no integration work or set-up costs for operators. The operators can turn on the product with a click. A full service version is also available with management, customization of rewards and in-depth analyses of campaigns. Instant Rewards is available in a downloadable client, on the web and in mobile clients for iOS and Android. Instant Reward is patent pending.

SHFL entertainment to be the Exclusive Distributor of Amaya's Online Poker and Gaming Platforms in the United States

MONTREAL, Canada – December 17, 2012 – Amaya Gaming Group Inc. (“Amaya” or the “Corporation”) (TSXV: AYA), an entertainment solutions provider for the regulated gaming industry, and SHFL entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select Market: SHFL) (“SHFL” or the “Company”) today announced that SHFL has been selected as the exclusive distributor of Amaya’s state of the art Gaming Platform (“AGP”) and the Ongame Poker Platform (“Ongame Poker”) in the United States for a 10 year term commencing on the execution of the definitive agreement.

SHFL was founded in 1983 with corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, NV. The company posted 2011 revenues of US$228 million (all figures in US dollars) and has a current market capitalization of $887 million. SHFL has over 3,000 customers in six continents and holds more than 300 gaming licenses, approvals, authorizations and waivers from gaming authorities and regulators worldwide. In July, SHFL was one of the first three companies to be granted an unrestricted interactive license by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

The terms of a definitive agreement will include SHFL making up to a $10 million payment to Amaya for the exclusive rights granted. SHFL and Amaya will share all revenue equally and also split all direct U.S. operational expenses, such as hosting, hardware and licensing costs. Upon the execution of the definitive agreement, SHFL will pay Amaya $2 million and have the immediate ability to offer its business-to-business (“B2B”) customers the AGP casino content and Ongame Poker solution for free-to-play social casino, which is one of the fastest growing segments of online entertainment in North America.

Contingent upon regulated, real-money online poker commencing under either a Federal statute or in California, SHFL will pay Amaya an additional $8 million. Alternatively, if individual States commence regulated, real-money online poker before commencement of such play under either a Federal statute or such play becomes legalized in California, SHFL will pay up to an aggregate of $8 million on a prorated basis (based on population) as individual States commence regulated, real-money online poker. In the event the Federal government or California commences regulated, real-money online poker after any other State, SHFL will pay Amaya the difference between $8 million and the aggregate amount previously paid.

“With over 90 companies around the globe currently using its platforms, we believe that Amaya is a leader in the online gaming market and working with them will offer many mutual benefits,” said Gavin Isaacs, SHFL’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are confident that the integration of our renowned brands and content delivery technology into Amaya’s full suite of cutting-edge online platforms will create a turnkey solution for our customers. Together with our many U.S. gaming licenses, we believe we will be able to maximize the market presence of these platforms.”

"Strategic alliances have always been an integral part of Amaya's strength and growth in key markets, and SHFL, with its reputation for gaming innovation and strong relationships in the U.S., is an ideal partner for us in the U.S. market," said David Baazov, CEO of Amaya. “Amaya expects to leverage those qualities by combining our technologies and expertise and putting forward a very compelling offering to U.S. operators wishing to extend their brand and operations online.”

Added Louis Castle, SHFL’s Chief Strategy Officer: “Free-to-play and social casino offer an exciting immediate opportunity for collaboration with Amaya. The U.S. online poker market is also very promising and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Ongame, whom we have always believed has the best technology available for online B2B poker.”

Ongame enters the casino market with side games integrated within the poker client

Ongame enters the casino market with side games integrated within the poker client | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

Ongame is entering the casino market and today is announcing the first implementation of casino side games within the poker client for all players using the Paf poker client. Casino side games within the poker client enable poker players to enjoy casino games while playing poker. The casino games are part of the casino offering provided by Jadestone – a WMS company.

The first operator to offer side games within the poker client is Paf. The non-intrusive implementation of side games is designed to increase total operator revenues without cannibalizing on poker. In addition, side games also enable the promotion of other gaming products to poker players, which increases long-term player loyalty for the operator brand.

“We are happy to finally offer side games within our poker client,” says Arvid Klingström, Head of Poker at Paf. “For us at Paf, with our focus mainly on recreational players, this is a natural step to expand our offering towards our poker players and to cross promote poker and casino. The packaging of the games is great and the look-and-feel really fits Paf."

“Jadestone’s side games offering is perfectly suited for implementation within the Ongame poker client,” says Robert Henrysson, CEO at Jadestone. “With the help of Ongame we are able to offer exciting casino games to poker players without making it hard for the operator to implement. This is a new way for us to distribute content, and through the recent acquisition of Jadestone by WMS, we may ultimately look to provide WMS award-winning portfolio in a similar manner.”

“Entering the casino market is a strategic step for Ongame,” says Peter Bertilsson, Managing Director of Ongame. “Ongame’s excellence within poker and our long-term relations with our operators puts us in a unique position to offer an improved player experience and increased profits for our partners.”

The global online casino market (estimated to be worth €6.4bn) is approximately twice as large as the global poker market (€3.2bn), according to H2 Gambling Capital (February 2012).

Churchill Downs applies for Nevada online poker license, Charles Rettmuller PokerUpdate

Churchill Downs applies for Nevada online poker license, Charles Rettmuller PokerUpdate | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

A bit late out of the starting gate but not too many lengths behind, Churchill Downs Inc., the owners of the famed Kentucy racetrack that hosts the Kentucky Derby, have applied for an online poker license with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Through twinspires.com, the company offers advance-deposit online wagering for its many racetracks, which include Harlow's Casino Resort & Hotel in Greenville, Mississippi, Calder Casino & Race Course in Miami Gardens, Florida, Arlington Park racetrack in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana. Twinspires also accepts bets on races from tracks throughout the country.

In 2010, Churchill Downs purchased Youbet.com and melded it into its twinspires website. In February of this year, the company bought Bluff Media, which focuses on poker-related content that includes BluffMagazine.com, as well as BluffPoker.com and Bluff.com. Known as the largest Internet horse-racing company in the United States, Churchill Downs is looking to expand its operations into online poker and has been “spending lots of time focusing on poker and egaming,” said Ted Gay, the company's chief strategy officer.

Churchill Downs is reportedly negotiating with several providers, such as Ongame and Playtech, in anticipation of rolling out its own online poker network.

So far in Nevada, gaming regulators have approved licenses for Bally Technologies and International Game Technology to provide interactive online gaming. Shuffle Master has received preliminary approval and is expected to be formally licensed later this month.

Speculations why Shuffle Master backs out of Ongame deal, Stephen Carter at CasinoChoice

Speculations why Shuffle Master backs out of Ongame deal, Stephen Carter at CasinoChoice | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-06-27/shuffle-master-drops-plans-to-buy-ongame-network
Shares of Las Vegas-based Shuffle Master fell 72 cents, or 5.4 percent, to $12.62 by midday.

This change of heart before the deal was announced in March did not however prevent Shuffle Master from going on to announce B2B deals this month to provide the Ongame poker technology to slot machine manufacturers Bally Technologies and Aristocrat, suggesting there may be reasons other than the challenging European poker climate for the collapse of the deal.

Shuffle Master earlier his month launched a trademark and copy infringement action against US mobile developer Avalinx over the latter producing copycat versions of Shuffle Master’s Let It Ride and Three Card Poker games, versions of which appear on bwin.party’s websites without acknowledgement of Shuffle Master’s copyrights and trademarks, according to Pokerfuse, hinting at a potential dispute between the two companies.

Other third parties understood by Casino Choice to have previously expressed an interest in buying Ongame included Canadian software provider Amaya, that recently acquired casino software businesses Chartwell and CryptoLogic.

Other sources:

http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/jun/27/shuffle-master-folds-plan-buy-internet-poker-compa/

“When we signed the definitive (purchase) agreement in February, we believed that general market conditions and Ongame’s sales pipeline supported the purchase being neutral or modestly accretive to the company’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). Business conditions in Europe have deteriorated since February and as a result, it has become evident to us that Ongame’s operations post-acquisition will not achieve the near-term results we initially expected and will require a larger ongoing investment than anticipated. Although we believe in its eventuality, there is also uncertainty surrounding the timing of legalization and the rollout of online poker in the U.S. at both the state and federal levels,” Shuffle Master CEO Gavin Isaacs said in a statement today.

Shufffle Master Chief Strategy Officer Louis Castle said the company is investing in its own gaming content platforms and “is considering other options for providing a business-to-business online poker product consistent with our other online offerings for web, social media and mobile applications.”

Aristocrat Partners With Ongame Poker For The Emerging U.S. Online Gaming Market

MONTREAL, Canada and LAS VEGAS, Nevada (May 2, 2013) – Amaya Gaming Group Inc. (TSXV: AYA) and  Aristocrat Technologies Inc. today announced they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding whereby Aristocrat will offer the Ongame poker network platform to Aristocrat’s U.S. customers through Aristocrat’s award-winning nLive™ online gaming platform.

Ongame has added many features for recreational players tailored for the U.S. market. Recent new products include Strobe, a new fast-fold poker format; Instant Rewards, an achievement and player incentive engine; and Hyperspace, in-client player communication. Ongame poker also has full mobile support for both iOS and Android, including tablets, and iPads.

Aristocrat’s nLive solution offers land-based operators a turnkey solution for providing their players with an online gaming solution. Operators can immediately start to offer play-for-fun games, which give players the chance to sample casino table games, multiplayer games and Aristocrat’s online slots when they’re not in the venue. As soon as necessary regulatory approvals have been put in place, the operator can switch from play-for-fun poker to real money poker.

“We are delighted to partner with Ongame to offer online poker on the nLive platform,” said Atul Bali, President of Aristocrat Americas. “This aligns perfectly with our strategy of bringing our best-of-breed wagering, free play and social platform, while integrating both Aristocrat and leading third-party content as part of the nLive offering.”

“Aristocrat and Amaya share a common vision of integrating land-based gaming with online gaming,” said David Baazov, CEO of Amaya Gaming Group Inc. “Integrating our online poker offering into the Aristocrat nLive platform opens up a wide range of new opportunities in the United States. This is a strategic relationship in the most promising market in the world.”

Ongame launches fast fold poker with mobile support

MONTREAL, Canada – March 7, 2013 – Amaya Gaming Group Inc. (TSXV: AYA) is pleased to announce that Amaya’s Ongame Network Ltd has launched Strobe, an improved fast fold poker concept that includes full mobile support, lower rake and fast 5-handed games. Ongame’s Strobe is the only fast fold poker format available for mobile devices in the B2B poker industry. In addition to PC, Mac and web clients, it is available for both Android and iOS devices.

“Playing Strobe on a tablet or smartphone is a true killer application,” said Sacha Kéchichian, CEO at EuroPoker, an Ongame customer. “Players love the intense action in Strobe and the ability to quickly jump in or out of games for any period of time. Enabling this for mobile devices just makes sense.”

Fast fold poker has proven to be a highly successful gaming format among players, accounting for up to 40% of all cash game hands (PokerScout, November 2012). In traditional poker ring games, players compete against a static set of players seated at the same table. In fast fold poker like Strobe, players compete against a pool of players; when players fold, they are immediately placed at a new table with new opponents.

“Strobe is an important addition to our offering and we are proud to roll it out to all of our customers and for all platforms,” said Fredrik Kjell, Head of Poker at Ongame. “We strive to protect the poker ecology and have chosen to decrease rake by 20% on Strobe games. By combining fast 5-handed games, lower rake and mobile support, we are confident that players will embrace this great addition to the poker industry.”

Amaya revenue up 360%, net Q3 results of 5,9 MUSD, Gaming Intelligence

Canada’s Amaya Gaming Group has reported a 360 per cent increase in revenues to CAD$18.3m for the third quarter of 2012, with full year revenues expected to be significantly boosted by the company’s recently completed Cadillac Jack and Ongame acquisitions.

Amaya said that third quarter revenues were boosted by the inclusion of software licensing and hosted casino revenues from Chartwell and CryptoLogic, as well as an increase in sales of its proprietary Mosino gaming stations.

“We were very pleased with the organic growth of our revenues in the third quarter over the second quarter, which was primarily due to the growth of the licensee bases in Europe of our subsidiaries CryptoLogic and Chartwell,” said David Baazov, president and CEO of Amaya.

Total expenses rose 177 per cent to $16.2m, with selling and marketing expenses increasing 106 per cent to $2.7m. General and administrative expenses grew by 173 per cent to $11.8m, driven by a growing employee base due to the Chartwell and CryptoLogic acquisitions and fully staffed operations in Moldova, Armenia, and the Dominican Republic. Consulting fees, amortization costs, and communications expense in connection with generating CryptoLogic's hosted casino revenue also contributed to the increase.

Amaya recorded an adjusted EBITDA of $5.9m for the third quarter, compared to an EBITDA loss of £0.9m a year ago, although this excludes $0.4m of acquisition-related costs and $0.1m of costs to terminate certain employment agreements. Overall, the company generated net earnings of $0.9m for the quarter, compared to a net loss of $1.8m a year ago.

Q3 and Jan-Sep 2012 Results

Canadian Dollars (CAD$) Q3 2011 Q3 2012 Jan-Sep 2011 Jan-Sep 2012
Revenues 4.0m 18.3m 8.9m 39.2m
Cost of Products 0.2m 0.05m 0.4m 0.8m
Gross Profit 3.8m 18.3m 8.5m 38.5m
Total Expenses 5.9m 16.2m 14.2m 45.9m
Net Earnings/(Loss) (1.8m) 0.9m (4.7m) (6.4m)
Basic EPS (0.04) 0.01 (0.11) (0.11)

For the nine month period, total revenues soared 342 per cent to $39.2m. On a regional basis, revenue growth was concentrated in the Caribbean and Europe during the period.

The Caribbean now accounts for 30 per cent of total revenues following an increase in the sale of the company’s Mosino gaming stations, while Europe accounts for 66 per cent as the customer base of Chartwell and CryptoLogic are predominantly European. Africa generated just 3 per cent as Amaya shifted away to more profitable markets in North America, Europe and the Caribbean.

A significant rise in total expenses however, up 223 per cent year-on-year to $45.9m, meant that the company widened its net loss to $6.4m for the nine month period.

Following the closure of the Cadillac Jack and Ongame acquisitions earlier this month, Amaya said that it expects fourth quarter revenues to be in the range of $36m to $40m, with adjusted EBITDA of between $13.5m and $15m.

“We're also extremely excited about our recent acquisitions of Cadillac Jack and Ongame,” continued Baazov. “Cadillac Jack provides Amaya with an important presence in the United States and the ability to offer physical, virtual, and mobile gaming solutions to our customer base, which addresses a growing trend toward convergence in our industry.

“Additionally, we expect to leverage Amaya's existing customer base in Europe as well as our sales and support staff to place Cadillac Jack's top quality gaming machines in that region.

“Our acquisition of Ongame provides us with a global online poker network reaching 20 million customers that includes 25 of the e-gaming industry's strongest brands. Having a top quality poker engine also positions us to participate in the U.S market as the regulation of online poker evolves. We expect to capitalize on revenue and cost synergies from both acquisitions early in the New Year.”

As at September 30th the company held cash and cash equivalents of $99.9m compared to $5.8m a year ago.

Shares in Amaya Gaming Group Inc (Co. Data) (TSX:AYA) will commence trading at $3.87 per share in Toronto later today.

Declining iPoker network hopes to get Everest and Betfair, Pokerfuse

Declining iPoker network hopes to get Everest and Betfair, Pokerfuse | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

Playtech’s impressive first-half financial results released today were marred only by the continued poor performance of its poker platform, iPoker. The group is looking toward both new licensees and a real-money mobile platform to boost its ailing network.

Poker understandably received slim attention in an otherwise glowing half-annual report:

The international poker market remained challenging for the first six months of the year, causing poker revenue to fall by 9% to €9.7 million. The iPoker network maintained its position as the leading independent poker network in the dotcom market place, and we are currently in discussions with a number of significant new licensees who wish to join the network.

Revealed on pokerfuse last week, one major new licensee in talks with Playtech is is Everest Poker, which plans to shut its independent poker room and join the network. Although considered a micro-network, it would bring a possible 20% boost to player numbers on iPoker. It operates a larger French network, which would completely reinvigorate Playtech’s presence in France. Rumored to be in talks with joining the network is Betfair, which currently operates on the Ongame network but is reportedly looking for a new home.

Zynga taking bids for online poker platform, Legal Poker Sites

Zynga taking bids for online poker platform, Legal Poker Sites | Poker & eGaming News | Scoop.it

According to the eGR article, GTECH G2 and Playtech are the two major companies confirmed to have bid on providing the site to the largest social media poker site in the world. In addition, sources close to eGR say that Microgaming and Intralot have bids in for the platform.

The movement to a real money online poker platform has been in the works for a while now many feel that a $404 Million loss in 2011 expedited the company’s plans. Zynga has the largest mobile gaming network at 22 Million players and it is currently the highest-grossing game on iOS and Android.

This move is a bit interesting considering the fact that Zynga is reportedly the lead company interested in purchasing the Ongame Network from bwin.party. Should the platform successfully become the property of Zynga, the tender would seem unnecessary. Chances are that this tender is a backup plan should the Ongame negotiations fall through.
